how would i do a compression test on my tri z.
how many times should i kick her over to get an accurate reading??
and if it does read low , how much oil should i put in the pot to do a second test?.
she starts fine when warm/hot..just a pain to start when cold..
ive only had her for a week or so , but i must of put 25 hours use on her already,
and how often should i change the rings .
thanks for info ..ian

You have a compression tester yes?, well you do it with wide open throttle and kick until the needle in the tester stop rising, just a little oil, about 5 drops of oil should do it, then the same again. You will also need to do a hot reading aswell.
will

Well, have you done a compression test yet? that will tell you if you need to look at the top end. Thhe choke nob on mine is missing and makes it hard to pull up. The only reason i knew it had 3 positions is because it says on my airbox cover

you can see if its working by pulling it full up and starting her, waiting a while till its warmed up a little. Should be revving quite high on the fast idle and smoking a fair bit, push it down and see if the revs drop and the smoke goes away. if it does your choke circuit is working. there is a definate click to the top and bottom of my choke you can feel it. maybe somethings not right in the choke
