best oil to use

hey what is the best oil to use when it is really cold out, i live in wisconsin and sometimes it can get preety nasty outside and i have a 200x and its a beast to start up, what kind of oil should i get or what other things to get it to start easier

i would say honda 5W-30 there are some synthetic oils but i havent used them, also proper timeing and carb settings are key. maybe even run the next step hotter plug if you are only going to run it for like 30 mins - 60 mins

in the summer it starts on the first kick every time, but last night it was 5 degres and it was a pain to get it to start up

I love Bel-Ray's Synthetics.I have used them for 10 years and have never had an issue do to lubrication.I would highly recomend a synthetic.

But long story short. you want a thinner oil.. like above 5w40.. instead of 10w30 for example.. use the 10 stuff in summer.. and the 5 in winter.. as it cools down it won't get as thick and will alow for easier starts.

I agree with this weight recomendation.I just said synthetic because naturally it is stays at a less viscosity in colder weather.Bel-Ray is just what I use,It is like Frod vs.Chevy.It is all preference.Don't pick your brand by price.You get what you pay for!

Personally I recommend 10w30 Synthetic for winter and 10w40 Synthetic for summer. Castrol makes a 10w40 Synthetic that's pretty nice.

I have used all the diffrent weights of oil in my 200 in the cold winter here, i find that AMS OIL Fully Synthetic 0w40 desinged for Wet clutch ATV's works the absolute best, mine would start first pull -35 with no problems....i would highly recomend it over any other oils out there for the winter.

My 200es's and 450s really like this new Amsoil V-Twin 20w-50...and if it's bitter cold out, find something else to do.

The bigger the spread in numbers, the more polymers needed to assist the oil base. More polymers equal a faster breakdown in conventional oil (not synthetic). I'd stay away from 10w-40. 5w-30 is a good Wisconsin year round oil.
