250SX carb choices

Well, i am sick of messing with this carb, its time for a replacment. The SX carb is long gone so I am going to adapt something from another machine. I was thinking along the lines of a TRX250X, 300EX, or maybe a Recon?? any other idea's? I dont want to go with a 350X carb (for various reasons) and I dont mind if the choke is down on the carb instead of the handlebars.

300ex and 350x carb are almost exaclty the same except 300ex carb has an accelerator pump.

will the 350x carb fit in the 250sx intake as the 350x is 31mm and the 250sx is 27mm.and does only replacing 350x jets by 250sx stock jets will work as the intake is bigger?

Will it fit, yes. I have one on on my SX project now. Don't know about the jets though, don't have a gas tank to test it with.

i'm in the same boat, i got a 85 350x carb i was gunna put on my 250sx but i've read ya just put em on and then i read ya chancge the jets?

I/m gonna go backwards with an 84 carb with a godblessed flipchoke for my 85.

I'll let you know if it works.

My 85 is a victim of that early 85 coldstart recall with no easy fix and almost not worth starting in the winter.
Sad too since I have to use a hardtail 200 to get any work done
