I found a clean, stock 1985 200x. I am thinking of it for my wife. I had bought my 2 250R's with the intention of her riding one but she is not good about keeping it on the pipe. She loves the handling and suspension but hates the motor. How do the 200x's run stock. Is the suspension decent for desert trail riding? Enough power to pull some hills? What are must do mods for this bike from your experience? I generally keep my stuff stock but I have zero 200x experience. This will be a trail bike and ocassional duner. My trikes are all I have so they will be ridden a fair amount. Thanks guys....Dove:beer

my 84 200X runs real strong and is a blast in the woods and on trails.i can't realy tell you much about hills because we don't realy have any :(
i think she would be happy with it:)
The 1985 200X was the best four stroke made.It has a awsome power to weight ratio.Has almost as good suspention as the 350X.Has the most aftermarket avalibility of any Honda.I could go on all day about this machine.I think there was a ratio for units sold.It was for every 1 250R sold they sold 5 200X's.:w00t:

she will be happy with the 200x, they have really good power for only a 200cc motor, i beat my friends warrior and thats a 350cc motor, they are really good for trails also
Dammit!

It should be fine for what you're going to use it for. The suspension is probably the weakest link. They do bottom out easy but that won't come into play often unless you're jumping it. The suspension on the 86-87 is worlds better but parts are a lot harder to come by.

I agree, the 200x would be perfect, Great handling trike, very good for dirt trails,
hill climbs etc. However they are underpowered for big dunes. Places like Pismo
they are fine But at large places like Dumont or Glamis it takes quite a bit of
"technique" to make the big climbs, still fun!

thanks for all the help guys, I picked it up today. It runs nice and looks brand new. Garaged for 9 years ridden at dunes only prior to that. All the bearings seem fine in the axle and swingarm, I did bleed the brakes. It should be a graet addition to the growing fleet.

I don't have any pics of any of my stuff up yet. I'm getting a camera for christmas and will have my brother show me how. I'll post as soon as I can. It's very very clean. I looked at another 1984 200x from a guy in lake forest that was also very clean. If you go onto cycle trader .com site click search and type in atc keyword look in 91730 area code with a 100 mile search you will see it. It was real nice. $900.00 I think it was. It's still there.
