Here is the coil and surrounding cover off my big red and I have a new coil to replace it. It looks like the coil splits but how do I split it without causing damage?

I didn't think you chould take it apart. But then again I have never heard of replacing the coil in it, instead just replaceing the unit as a whole.

Yah dude, that was too good haha.
You need to pull off your flywheel and stator plate, cut the wires going to your old one and soder the connections to the new one.

Usually a parts guy would pick up on something so simple as a chargin coil or a ign coil. Its easy though to screw up ordering from dennis kirk when all it says is ign coil for the discription of the charging coil....

The right coil is comming now so I should be set.
I guess since you can rebuild a starter you could rebuild the ignition coil. That was my thinking anyway.
