Whats the loudest i can get or what is the best performer i can get.

I'll be willing to bet the best pipe there is the DG. Corbas seem to rust faster than anyothers also but since the one is aluminum it might be able to hold up.

Cobras are like chinese quads, you only get them if your desprate and after time you regret that decision .

DG CHROME!!! You can feel the exhaust hit you about 10 feet behind the bike! It's pretty too.

I really dont see why people say it will fry the valves.. how does it do that?..
My DG pipe is pretty much straight threw (especially with the muffler packing removed.. ) .. I think its like a straight pipe.. with a horn on the end .. and it magnafies (sp terrible lol) the sound. I am sure my DG RCM for my 200x gives absoultly no back pressure.. how come that doesnt fry the valves? whats the differencE?

yep, i agree with chris, i got the dg chome on my 200x and she sounds bad to the bone it has a very throaty sound to it, it gave me goosebumps when i heard the pipe for the first time. this is a pic of a dg on my 85 200x but it probly looks the same on an 86

From what I hear the valves heat up faster with a straight pipe. If the straight pipe is as long as a stock muffler and exhaust it will still give backpressure to keep the valves cooler than if they had no backpressure at all. To me it doesnt matter, I'm gonna run motorcycles with drag pipes and my friend plans on doing it with his harley.

I put a 350x supertrapp on my 86 200x, I had to cut the cobra header pipe I had back and everyting bolted like it was meant to fit. it has discs so you can adjust the noise and backpressure.

You'll lose power if you run the headpipe only without setting up for it right. I know. I had mine fall off several times while I was riding and there's always a power loss. :lol:

First off - some backpressure is absolutely required to cool the valves -Spent exhaust gas is cooler than the explosion.
Secondly- if you took your exhaust off completely -The loss of backpressure would cause a SUPER-LEAN condition.

The power loss you feel with "OPEN" exhaust is lean mixture- and you wont see any benefit until revs higher than you would want to make

I run a Megaphone and The power it added was deff. noticable and I love the way it sounds, as far as them being garbage, thats BS a buddy of mine has a 250X quad and he has a super trap on it, i dont like how it sounds. But if * can some how get a FMF fatty, lol then ** grinnin

Picture a piece of burning wood.

once you get a good pile of hot coals.... they glow nice and hot.... not blow air on it and watch it glow red !!!!

Same idea with the valves... no back pressure.. and lots of rushing air = very hot valves.

Not actually- But our shop takes in Students from the vocational school during the summer. I dont know what they teach these kids -but I guess real-world is different from text books.

PsychoX has a dg on his 86 and i think most people who were at TF05 can vouch that he did pretty good with it during the mx races. His little 200 sounds like a little brother to my raptor.

Haha no it deff doesnt, and i was just playing so its cool But yeah, your right theres a kid that goes to school with me, he has a 250X (i mentioned it) and i asked him how many disc he had, he answer " idk it sounds good" ...lol but he thinks hes a genuis. Even on cars with V8's and headers- If your looking for Cool looking noisy pipes, be prepared to sacrifice some performance. Lookin good , and sounding good ---dont make it faster.

it may take some trial and error , But if your getting great top end --the trade off is doggy bottom.

The DG should be fine for you, I've seen the chrome DG on a buddies 400EX, nice system. Make sure you dial in the jetting once you install it.

Oh and if you just want something loud then go buy a cherry bomb muffler and make it fit. I have a bud with it on his 85.

i do like the cobra's but i have never tryed the DG's buy both and let us know which has better top end and bottom end
