Anybody with a 350x ever have popping (backfiring) after the engine has been revved high? When I let off of the throttle after hammering it the engine backfires several times. The bike runs strong, but I was curious if this is a common trait.

Its common on alot of ATVs, especially if you go down hill and let off on the throttle.

Believe it or not -Exhaust systems are not for noise control -power enhancement- Or just to look cool---Its a Flame arrestor for backfires (Spark Arrestor)

If you ever watch drag racing on TV- The flames that come from the exhaust are completely normal

I know that if you have a leaky exhaust gasket or a lean fuel condition that it will cause the back to backfire when you rev the engine up and let off the throttle real quick. Often if you change to a different air filter or exhaust the engine will begin to backfire alot. It usually means you have to rejet your carb.

My 350X only does it when it is revved extremely high in a high gear. Other than that it runs smooth.

Yep, excess gas. It can be caused by too lean an idle mixture.

anyone ever tell you that you timing is off just a little check it and bet it will solve everything. my 200X was doing the same thing and sure enough that was it. check that first.

Every 4 stroke I've ever owned (xl80s, xr100r, lt185) always backfired when using engine braking going down a hill.

My 350X did the same thing when I had the cobra muffler on it. After switching over to the 450R muffler it has stopped. Are you running stock exhaust / muffer, or aftermarket?

Go up one size on your idle jet and it should quit. Your just lean a little.
