So the gas cap on my 86 tecate keeps cracking. This is the third time now and I can't figger out why. I know Im not making it too tight because I just make it snug. Also it was fine when I put it away last season and when I pulled it out it was cracked.

But I was wondering if anyone knows of a place I can get a nice aluminum gas cap. I was looking at http://www.rockymountainatv.com/ but they don't have one listed for the tecate. Does anyone know if one from a newer quad would work?

Just a guess--do you have a vent anywhere on the tank and is it plugged- an aluminum cap wouldnt give way as easily and if pressure in the tank broke a plastic cap- the metal one will rupture the tank instead

Wouldn't any gas cap fit?

most gas caps fit, but make sure first/ r * sure it isent cause the weather change it drys then breaks or somthing? i would think ** missing the vent or sumthin? and yes like Unclediezel said a tank blowing up wouldent be good.

na, i think its just the teacte caps are prone to cracking. I had to epoxy mine back together the last time i drove it cause it was cracked.
