Hi there. I'm the new proud owner of a '85 350X. So far I love it. It's quick enough for me and has gobbs of torque.
Just cuious if anyone mods these things and what are some good mods to do?
Also, right now I need a new air filter and was going to just going to go with a K&N. Do I need to rejet the carb?
Thanks,
Mike

if you dont need to worry about your exhaust being too loud then you can get a TRX 450R muffler and with a little work it will bolt on.your going to have to wait until the 350x junkies come around this post becuase I dont have a 350x so I dont want to give you any false information...

all i have done to mine is totaly stock and a sert of relators tires on the back, love it just the way it is, but my other one has a powroll cam and a dg silencer on a basanni headderpipe, for a show biek its too loud, if you have a decent stock exaust i would coincider trading, i want a quieter stock exaust. the one i have is polished silencer looks miror finiosh and the headder is black bbq grill painted, holds up fairly well.

I have a good stock exhaust, but I want to keep it. Did your exhaust help performance any?

i will be building mine in a few weeks. cam, headwork,up the compression etc... but yeah there fast enough as it is, mine has a gutted DG, 145 main jet, usually no airbox cover, and a uni filter, and a 14 tooth front sprocket so i could race a little eaiser without flipping over backwards (it's still nearly impissoble ,just comes up through 3 now instead of 4) 22" square tires.
There bad rides. just do the basics to it. like above. and you will give alot of sport quads w/alot more cc's a run for their $ if you dont beat them
i wouldn't think you would need to rejet unles the cover is off, the X dosent take in alot of air unless the cover is off.... those 2 little intake holes in the frame dosn't do it justice
you can hear mine a mile away with a empty DG, and can feel the air smacking you in the face and blowing your clothes 30 ft away but sometimes it is too loud when riding on private land etc...(i wouldent have done it, but it was like that when i bought it) but i hear exhaust is one of the best things to do to it, like the 400ex

Welcome to the board.... Powerol makes some engine hop ups, you can get progressive springs for the forks, that helps the ride. I have a stock motor in mine and have had trouble free riding for years. all I've added is a uni filter and a supertrapp Silencer. http://www.powroll.com/index.htm

you have 2 be ready to spend crazy $ to afford powerol though. if you get a cam just make sure to get a web cam there almost 100 bucks cheaper and are good products

Where can the Progressive springs be bought from? Surely there is place better than the Honda dealer..

Thanks for all the info. For now I just got a UniFilter for it. It's running so good now that I'll leave it stock for awhile. Looks liek there is a decent aftermarket out there if you're willing to spend the $$.

The only thing I disagree with you is being able run with sport quads espicially with more cc's. A 400ex, maby. I just recently sold my z400, and that would run with the 350x in 4th gear when the X was in 6th. The z smoked it. And now with my new 450r, its not even a race, atall. It's worthelss to even put them side by side. Same with the raptor, its worthless.
But to answer your question some good mods are pipe, airfilter, raise the compression, cam, and such. You can try different size tires (bigger tires=more top end) and change the gearing.

my lord that was Your z400 lol and another 350x, i said Alot of sport quads not your z400 or 450 and i said give them a run for their $ which usually means loosing. but right there all the way, and sometimes winning
it also matters who's riding....skill and more importantly weight of rider...
