Here are some before and after pics of my Atc Speedo.:p I sent it to a guy that specializes in Honda Speedo Restoration. What do you think of the chrome trim ring versus the black one?

WOW!!! Awesome man! How did you get the chrome trim? Did you put the ATC face in the red faced housing?

How much did that set you back anyway? Looks like an awesome job!!!!!

Phil, I actually sent him two speedos, one Atc speedo and one new Honda kmh (red faced). Carl would normally charge $75 for his typical resto. This was his first Atc speedo resto, so he charged a little extra since he basically had to take them both apart. The chrome ring was off the donor, I tried to find some oem speedo parts with no luck and figured I could sac the kmh speedo for a Bitchin Atc one.:naughty: I think that some of the other Honda speedo parts will interchange but they are 20 years old also, so its not likely those parts are easy finds either.

Yeah.... I think Swiney figured out if you run the cable backwards, it takes the mileage off. Now what exactly did he do? Did he clean up the odometer and face of the ATC one and just use the housing and the ring of the KPH one? OR.... does your new ATC one have the "guts" of your KPH one ie mileage in KPH?

I know Swiney had a couple "touched" up by a local artist, but for $75, that's a great deal! You can get about any old dirty/beat up one for not too much and pay the extra $75 to make it look NOS. I'll have to send that one I got from Maine Triker the other day. Seems like I saw a NOS one go for over $300 last week.... crazy!

Wow, I think I'm going to send my whole collection of ATC speedos over to him LOL!

The one Swiney is working on for me was really bad as far as the condition of the face goes... I'm anxous to see it after the resto... I'm sure It'll be 100 times better!

Bruce, Carl basically used the "red face" as a donor. The Atc speedo ring was damaged and the seal was in bad shape also. As far as the guts it appears that he used the donors mileage and trip meter. He said that Meguiars has a plastic polish I think its called PlastX. Thats what he uses on the faces to remove oxidation and the yellowish color the sun burns into them. I am sure if enough people here are interested he would create a seperate auction on e-bay for honda atc speedos. :beer

Jes,
I believe that the dial does pull off. As for the trim ring I was told thats where ones patience and skills are tested. I took one look at it and realized I would probably not be satisfied with the outcome if I took it apart. I can give you the contact info for Carl Sickle if you want to give him a shout. :p
