Okay.. i dug into the motor today. I noticed a bunch of slack in the chain and the tensioner was pretty worn. Now, if the timing chain is loose can it cause the gear on the crank to slip and make it skip timing? Also, can i replace the sprocket on the crank?

Yes, a loose chain can cause it to jump time.
Yes, you can replace the sprocket on the crank.

I was in that boat before, give it time and it'll all come to you. These 3 wheeler engines are probably the simplest 4-strokes to learn on as well.

Lawnmower and other small four stroke engines are a lot easier to learn on than over-head cam, over-head valve engines in honda atc's.

hey you want to replace the whole chain and if the guide and tensoner is bad you want to replace that too. it may skip timing if the chain is loose. i know that dennis kirk has a cam gear but i dont know if it will fit a 200x.
