I bought an 86 lower tripple and steering stem for my 86200x because I needed a new steering stem. I went to put the new lower tripple on the forks, and it wouldnt fit. After that I noticed the lower tripple tree that came on the trike had a bolt on steering stem, not a pressed in one like the new lower tripple I received. Do I have a 350x front end on my 200x?
Would the 200x tripple worrk if I took it to a machine shop and had thefork clamps bored out, or wouldnt it hold?

the 200x has a bolt at the top of the tripple tree.

No, the bottom tripple has a bolt running through it to keep the steering stem clamped to the bottom tripple.

Did the 85 200x have bigger forks though? Why would they make the fork diameter smaller on the 86 if they upgraded everything else?

Could you take a picture im having trouble visualizing what your talking about.
but it sounds like what you are saying is that the triple tree that is currently on has a bolt through the bottom?

200x triple trees do have the bolt holding the lower clamp to the stem. I'm not sure if the 350x or the 250r have them or not. Measure the diameter of the fork holes in the upper and lower trees and I will see what my forks are.
