You might check a Honda Hub. I know the 86-87 Tecate's innerchanged with some Honda's ( axle spline's only ). The difference is in the bolt pattern of the hub. None of the Honda's to my knowledge will match up on the Tecate bolt pattern. That means Honda Hubs = Honda Rims. ;)

85 and 86 Tecate hubs have different splines. 85 has 13 i believe and 86 has 24. I believe mojave and tecate4 also use the 24 spline hub. 84 tecate hubs will switch with 85. i would use 84 tecate hubs because they have a smaller bolt pattern and you will be able to use 8" rims with them. and it should be easy to find some.
Your spline slack may be in your axle splines, in which new hubs won't help.

What are your hubs from that fit a tecate rear axle? I have an 85 Tecate with new Blackwaters on the rear, and I wanted to run them a while on my R while the tecate was broke... I tried to see if the tecate hubs would fit on the R but they were different. If you know what the hubs are and what bolt patter they are then let me know. Thanks,
Derek

the spline pattern is for a 85 t3 and the bolt pattern is for a honda. i have no clue what they came from.
MORE T3 INFO LOL
The racers back in the day did alot of different tricks to play w/ different tire/rim combos. I have a +4 axle on my 87 T3 that runs 84/85 splines, I think it was a way to run the little bolt pattern and get a 8in rim w/ a 18in tire. I remember universal rims that had oval holes to fit different bolt patters also.

If you can get me a picture and measurement I should be able to identify it for you. ;)

MIKs right, some 86 racing axles were cut to fit the larger splines so they could run the small 84 Tecate hubs with 8" rims.
DuraBlue made custom hubs too for the Tecates.
