To most this may sound like a stupid question. I just purchased my 1st trike a few weeks ago and Im putting some new tires on. I want to take the wheels off the axle and just take them to the shop to have them put the new tires on. Does anyone know what size (mm) wrench I will need to take the axle nut off? I tried a 22mm, which was the largest I had but it was a little too small. I have a 1984 200es big red. Any help would be appreciated. Plus is there anything in particular I need to knwo when removing the wheels and old tires>?

If you don't have a socket big enough for the hub.. remove the rim from the hub ( 14mm i think ) and leave the hub on the axle.

Are those the 4 bolts? Once removing them does the wheel and tire just slide off? Im at work so I cant see the wheel right now.

Yes. Taking off the 4 bolts is probably the easiest way to do it. Thats how I've always done it, atleast.

yeah, uh taking the axel off is the really hard route. Just take the 4 nuts off, like on a car, and the tire and rim will slide off.

Are the tires easy to put on those style rims or is it better to just take the old tire and wheel to a shop and let them mount them?

if you have a tire changer go ahead and try. If you dont suceed take it to a shop.

ok, thanks for the help. Im sure I will posting more "ignorant" questions in the future. My first time to own a vehicle with a motor, other than a car or truck.

If you have any experience taking ATV tires off rims give it a shot.. but for the few $$$ a shop will charge to put them on.. in less than 10 minutes.. get it done and save yourself the bruised knuckles.
