I think I should win the nobel prize for this discovery! :w00t:

Now, there is always the standard test you can run the gearbox through to see what side it fits on, but you need to have it in your hand to do that don't you?

Soooo.... last night I was like, "Hmmm.... let me compare a 350x gearbox to a 200x one".... and look at the big difference between the two!

Here is the 350x one on the right and the 200x one on the left.... so, can anyone tell what the big difference is?

ok the 350 has a longer body but the main difference is that the gearing runs in opposite ways.........is that it?????

Looks like the cable input part is longer on the 350X. Now Maine_Triker... I thought you got rid of those 2 200X kits. Where'd you get another 200X gearbox??? :wondering

Actually... you can ask the seller to turn the "plate" clockwise - - If the cable turns counter clockwise, it's a Right gearbox (350X, HA2 R, HA0 BR, 250SX) if it turns clockwise, it's a Left gearbox (200X, 81-84R) Now some of the others have a much different shape to the gearbox.

However... you might have to send a clock to some sellers so they know the difference between clockwise and counterclockwise! hahhahaha

holy crap...look at the axle size diameter difference!

You guys got it! I still have both of those 200x kits... one is still in it's box and one is one the 250r. But I'm putting a longer cable on the 250r since the 200x one is a little short (that's where the cable for your 250es cable is coming form Bruce)

That's the whole problem with asking them... sometimes they don't have a clue or just don't care!

It's decieving in the pic but the axle diameters are actually the same.

I would say the "1" on the 200x one, and the "2" on the 350x one.

I looked at that too... but it's not as reliable a way to identify them. If it is used and rusty the number would be difficult if not impossible to read.

Look at the position of the screw that holds the cable. They are in different locations. The 350x one is closer to the drive gear. Or appears that way. It could be the 350x shank is longer. ;)

Anything can rust in Northern Maine... hahahahaha

And Howdy, the screws sit at the same place it is the body that is longer. ;)

What is the size of the hole for the axle?

It's about 19/32 inches.... they're all the same so one gearbox will work on any trike as long as it's on the proper side.

Phil.... I'll give you a call after 9pm tonight. :welcome: Go ahead and sell that one to edog..... I got you covered! ;) I'll test your hypothesis soon.... I have 3 - 350X ones and 2 - 200X ones and 2 - 82R ones along with that complete NOS unsuspended trike kit (different gearbox housing) :naughty:

The unsuspended trike ones work fine on other trikes... how do I know this? I used a 250es gearbox on my 350x right? Well the 250es gearbox is identical to the 200e/110/185 etc. gearbox (with the built in dust seal and all).

I kinda like the 250es/200e/110/185 gearboxs better because of the built in dust seal... the 200x/250r/350x kiits have the seperate dust seal and they're easy to lose.

I'll be waiting for your call Bruce and I'll take the 250es kit off my 350x later this afternoon and pack it up.
