I have posted a few questions here about a no spark problem on a 1984 big red. I have followed all of the suggestions and I still have no spark.
I have replaced the stator coil. It is now reading 197 ohms.
I have tested both the primary and secondary circuit on the ignition coil, and they are fine.
I have replaced the spark plug boot/cap with a spare one I had laying around.
I checked the spark plug wire. I don't remember what the resistance was.
I have two cdi units and neither one makes a difference.
There is plenty of compression.
I have cleaned all connections, both wire to wire and ground connections (including ignition coil contact to frame) with a wire brush.
I do have a problem getting the neutral light to come on when I first turn the key on, but it seems to work after a few minutes on its own.
All fuses are good.
I am not sure what else to try. I don't have a repair manual for it (the machine belongs to a friend).
I am not sure if it could be an ignition switch problem, or something else simple I am just not thinking of.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon
