Well I finally got my bassani exhaust for the sx yesterday night and got a chance to put it on today . I LOVE this thing! I actually roars now , but I think the pipe and exhaust are off a 200x. Lemme know what you guys think. It has a bassani pipe and exhaust, 350x carb, uni filter, white 200x rear fenders, and a 200x front end. I still need to get a works shock, 350x headlight, repaint the tank white with red decals and red fork boots. It'll be the flash when I'm done

The first 2 pics are before pics. the rest show the trike now, what the exhaust looks like and in the next post shows why I think it is a 200x exhaust.

I'll call her Bertha. She is a little light in front but she has a heavy rear end

that pipe is very similar (shape) to the dg pipe i had on my 200x.

I was jumping it tonight and I could only get about 13 feet (measured from the top of the jump to the rear tires) with it being bone stock and now due to the lighter front end, carb, and exhaust I can get about 18 feet on average. I didnt think it would help all that much but it seems to have

That is going to be one bad SX!

A 200x fender mounted right up like that??? I have never owned any 250sx's so I don't really know much about them other than the motor is the same as a big red 250. That looks really sweet and keep up the awesome work :w00t:

You going to run that at the Lawton PA drags this comming weekend?

All I can say is I'm glad I'm not your neighbor.

WP, do you ever work on your trike clean? I'm not getting on you, I'm just real curious, do you?

I don't think I ever saw your trikes clean that I can think of

You do have plumbing with a outside faucet, right?

Right now it is pretty clean. And thats about as clean as it gets since the next time I ride it it wil be dirty again. I may powerwash the engine before this weekend but I doubt it,

A 200x fender mounted right up like that???

Not to the SX. The previous owner used some extra maier plastic, went through the holes on the trees, bolted the extra plastic on , then screw the front fender on. It was a work of art, trust me

That is going to be one bad SX!

Its going to be bad when his frame and/or swingarm break
Search the forums... sx's can't handle the jumps

and that bassani exaust does look alot like my DG rcm exhaust.

its a utility so yes I'm aware of it. if I had a longer run way I could get more but I can only hit the jump in 3rd gear.

I have a very rough outline of the color scheme. It gonna be white no matter what but I'm not sure about the red. What do you guys think?

10-12-2005, 01:31 AM
i think it would look good witht hew maier white plastics, and a nice blue 86 or 87 seatcover, but thats my .o2 cents, and did you also want to se eif the 350x shrouds would work on the sx tank with some mods.

well what i have done is put a dent in the tasnk with a ball peen hammer and welded nuts to the tank and used really short bolts to hold them on. just my.02 cents, but the resaults didnt turn out too good due to a rushed job.

Maine_Triker
10-12-2005, 11:16 AM
You'de probably have an easier time puting some 83-84 250r shrouds on instead of the 350x ones.

Your color scheme looks pretty good though.... maybe you could put some flames coming down the rear fenders?

brapp
10-12-2005, 11:43 AM
well i dont have any 83-84 r shrouds, jusy have a few extra sets of 350x ones, just an offer,.

Huffa- October 15 and 16 in Lawton, PA (susquehanna county). atvspecialevents.com. click on 2005 events, scroll to bottom and find lawton, pa. then click on the flyer link. any info you need is on that web site.

huffa you live about 95 miles away. Not bad concidering hrc85250r comes from upstate NY.

Got a works shock for it so I'm that much closer. Got the white rear fenders put on so now it just needs the paint job (an actual powdercoat), the Decals (which are on the way), red fork boots, and (if Aussieduner makes them for the 200x) a red number plate till I find a cheap 350x light.

Tri-ZNate
12-26-2005, 03:09 PM
Well I finally had my plastics, seat, and SX in the same place for a pic . I also have a pic on there of how far I have gone from stock. The hardware isnt on the seat so thats why it is stocking up some from the tank and I need to strip the paint off the plastics some more too as you can see.

Just need my fork boots to arrive, pick up my K&N filter tomorrow, reverse the color scheme on the tank ( I have some nice '86 SX decals (the ones for the plastics) to stick on the tank), and get my exhaust sandblasted. so thats like 4 things left.

Also I would have washed it but old man winter is here so I dont wanna hear (hey dont you have indoor plumbing?)

Yet ANOTHER clown who doesn't know what he's talking about.

I have been jumping my 85 SX for 8 years now and never broke a swingarm or frame. No, they are not 200X's 250R's or 350X's but can and will jump just fine.

Yes the swingarm can be the weak link but the frame?? Again your just flapping your mouth without knowing what your talking about.

This is a picture of the 25 foot table top I built and I clear with my SX, it is one of the 11 jumps on my track - still no broken parts....

its not hard to wash an engine, especially this one. Go over it with water then hit it with oven cleaner and brillo pads.

well I got my fork boots on today as well as my Gator tires. I'm so close I can taste it. Here are some new pics and a pic to show how far I have gotten. I also want to add that according to my neighbor's GPS on flat ground my SX does 61.2 mph.

hey guys how much of a PITA is it to change side covers on the SX? I have 2 uncracked ones laying around to replace the JBwelded one you can see. If its not that complecated I'll dive into it. And yes I have a service manual but that doesnt tell me if its a PITA or not.

traxxasx
01-01-2006, 11:05 PM
i never did it to a sx but it sholdent be hard at all. well depends what cases your talking bout. if i were you i would get some rough sand paper hit that rusty pipe then wash it off let it dry then hit it with some high temp. chrome paint, or black.

;) its all part of the plan. Both the exhaust and tank are getting sand blasted, and painted with the tank getting some bondo filler to it. Its all a matter of "When do I not feel too lazy?"

Tri-ZNate

I got a chance to get a few quick vids of the SX so you can see how it sounds. And if you have ever riden with a blown shock you can understand why I cant hold a wheelie here.

yeah the bassani is a nice sounding pipe for sure. I almost feel embarrased to show the one vid of me comming off the jump but man, with those heavier bigger tread tires it sure is hard to get any speed.

Mike_Ham_250R
01-14-2006, 11:41 PM
Don't be embarrased. What do you expect with a heavy machine with a jump thats not all that big, it was good.

01-14-2006, 11:49 PM
if I can get a ride I'll be there.

Ill show ya how big the jump is, its good size. Normally I can hit it in 3rd but now only second. here is a pic

and not 18 feet of air, 18 feet forward in the air. But until I give exidence you can say what ever you'd like. I would *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* myself if I got 18' up with an SX or anything else for that matter.

I only have a couple vids since I only had like 5 min to make them. Hopefully today I'll get the rest of the red off the fenders and be done with that aspect of it.

And thanks for the comments.

If you can convert the format so it isnt too big I'll get some more videos today.

Mike_Ham_250R
01-15-2006, 10:42 AM
If they are taken in .wmv, .mpeg,.avi, and a few others, I should be able to save them in a smaller format without that "converted by..." thing. But it might take time to send them in an e-mail but I can reformat them. -Thanks

Mike_Ham_250R

Yeah my main prob was wrong format and too big. They would be like 10.7 mb and 14.3 mb and the max they can be is 10mb.

Hey MaineTriker your the one I got those '84 R shrouds off of right? I tried to get them to fit up right on the tank but my front end swings around too much. Hard to see a difference really, maybe some 85-85 R shrouds would be bigger or maybe the 350x?

250sxwheeliepop.... I may be talking rubbish, but is that you idle speed? in the first fid you posted just now near the end where you get off. Do you really have it idling that high?

I'm not sure about the shrouds... seems like 350x shrouds would just make more of a problem with the forks... but I dunno.

I think I can get your vids all trimmed and formated properly using the software I have here... I'm gonna mess around with it a little bit more and get back to you.

I doubt I'll really do it but it would seem like since the 350x shrouds are bigger I could slide them further toward the seat s it would look better. Like I said I doubt I'll actually put them on.

And I wont have access to the vids for another week (their at my dad's)

(Pic size is my fault, I forgot to turn it back to 1600x3200) Well yesterday and today i finally got around and got rid of that red tank and even bondoed it to fill in the knee dents. Looks alot better imo. I'll post a before and after pic, hopefully they are in about the same spot so it looks better. I tried to clean up the plastics but the well is froze so i had to try and do it with carb cleaner ;)

Final things to get done-
1. Sandblast and paint the exhaust
2. Get a PRM grab bar

Yeah watch for a week I'll be like "Oh no no no dont touch the tank you'll get it dirty" then in a month I'll be like " Yay MUD!!!" Same thing happened with the seat

The tires hook up like crazy and you can still spin them suprisingly, but they are rough as hell with a stock shock.

Looking good wheeliepop. You going to be at TF? I want to see this SX in person. I also need a mudding partner:w00t: , the 200 will be ready to rock when it rains. And if you know ANYthing about TF mud, its not mud. Its solid clay that wont wash off if it dries. I will always remember this-
Quote from someone I forget " Dont let that mud harden on you or anything."
Me- " Why not?"
Quote from someone I forget " When it does, itll tear yer damn hair out and it stains your fenders if there white too"

And that will always remind me, wash! lol
