I am currently working on my yamaha 225DRS. my camshaft fell apart. i bought a new one, put a new lock collar on it. is there any tips to help keep oil on it or is it just put it in and hope it works okay? also my lights won't work. i have everything plugged in and i've changed my switch with a working unit, if anybody has a idea i'd appreciate the helpl. thanks.

You could check the oil check screw to make sure the oil seeps out of there.
If it doesnt have oil going up there, it could cause major wear to your cam, rockers, etc. This could have been your problem.

Your lights wont work until your engine is running.Thats the way it is on my dx anyway.

Have you checked your bulbs?
You can check the lighting coil if it still doesnt work when running.

Yep... 225DX/DR Ignition switch is a "On-Off" .... The 200E/ER Ignition Switch is a "Off-On-Light". This has a special postion that will run the headlight off the battery. The 225's don't have this option.
