I just got a tri-moto 125 from a friend. He gave it to me cause it needs a carb an he coutldnt find one. well, i pulled the rope and the wheels turned backwards like it isin reverse. i dont think it has reverse. if i shift it up they still spin backwards but faster. i found a carb but not gunna get it till i figure this out.

If I recall them are a 2 stroke, Im not to keen on the yamahas except the tri-z, But i would check and do the timing, also see if you pull rope wound up the wrong way, Ive seen that happen once on a buddies go-ped.

I would be willing to bet a that is the problem. I have seen this a few times.

If this is the same as my YT 175, you have to pay attention to the way you finish winding the rope on the drum. The dog isn't spring loaded like other types & you have to finsh it off with the right preload on the return spring & then tie the knot so that the dog is at the top of the drum when the rope recoils back inside the assembly.
Gravity is all that holds the dog at rest. Otherwise the dog hangs out & gets hit repeatedly by the slots in the cage while the engine is running. Makes a heck of a racket & wears things out.
