I got one in a trade today and the rear hubs are welded to the axle. I need to get it apart to replace the bearings and will have to cut them off. I have a set of hubs but I imagine the axle will be toast. Any one know if they are still available? I did a little digging and couldn't find anything.

I doubt they are available from Honda. How ever I do know there is some of us that have used axles that will fit it.

Are the axles from a large frame 200 (such as my 83 ATC 200) and the chain drive big red interchangeable? I found a few on Ebay that were in my price range for the ATC200. But nothing listed for the 200e.

Sometyhing tells me they are different, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this swap will pipe in and let us know.
I'm not sure of your price range, but I normally sell them for $25-$30 plus shipping, and I shouldn't have a problem fixing you up with one. ;)

Well. Picked it up today and have a few more details.
1: It's an 82 200E according to the sticker on the frame.
2: Rear axle is definitely trash. May have eaten into the housing. We'll see tomorrow.
3: Fork has been violated. Someone tried to modify it with scrap metal. Didn't work.
4: Hooked up a battery and spun it over. We have compression and spark. I'll rebuild
the carb and hope for the best.
5: I need tires, front fender, headlight and bracket, and a front fork.
All in all, not bad for lagniappe.

lagniappe ???? That some hick french cajun term for free??
Anyhow, I have a 200M parts trike up here. That would be a close cousin to the chain drive 82-83 Big Red.

Lagniappe= "lan-yap": Cajun French word for "A little something extra."
I claim a little redneck, cajun, and healthy dose of coon-ass.
Down here "hick" is a term used for foreigners from their own rural areas. Kind of like hillbillys from Ky. or Tenn.
