Hopefully I'm going to look at one of these tonight. I know they are pretty dog gone rare. Did Honda only make this version in 87 and 84-86 were the more horizontal motors?

I can't find pics of a 85 or 6 and this is why I ask.

This is the 87.

http://www.files.3wheelerworld.com/Sads/sHonda1987atc125m.jpg

This one (87) the guys say has reverse but Honda did away with the Low&Hi range so I guess it has to be the 87.

He has a 84 too and I kept asking him if the 87 has a more vertical motor and he kept insisting they were the same. Can't be, right?

What excites me :Bounce is that he says it is all original and everything works. I called about the 84 which he advertized then he told me about the 87 for sale.

The 84 deal didn't excite me at all but the price is reasonable on both, espeacilly the 87.

Even though 87 is original it still could be beat, we shall see.

The first generation was 84-85, this had the hi/low sub trans, horizontal engine. The second generation was 86-87 which had the reverse sub trans (no hi/low) and the more vertical engine. So the one you are checking on could be an '86 or '87. The second generation is fairly rare and hard to find parts for but looks like a nice trike to me. I hope it turns out well for ya.

I got your PM Fox and thank you very much!

I looked at it tonight and IT'S IN GREAT SHAPE!!!!!!! :Bounce :Bounce :Bounce :Bounce :Bounce :Bounce

It's all there just like the guy said!! Plastic is great, tank is real nice but extremly rusted on the inside which will demand a kreem job for sure buit this time I want to use Red something :wondering or other . I can't recall what it's called but everytime a kreem conversation comes up, someone insists that is a lot easier and better to use, so I'll give it a try.

Getting back to the 125..........it needs and demands a very good cleaning but does start and started 1st pull and sat there just puuuuurrring away! Dash lights work, it goes in reverse, has a brand new oil filter on and the oil is quite fresh.

It needs a battery and I would think I'll find a few other things but from the 20 minute inspection I couldn't find anything else missing. It was dark, it was in a enclosed box truck and we had to use flashlights and that's why i might of missed something.

Worse thing I can say about it is that it has a oil leak on the left side casing at bottom rear which seems to be just a gasket for the whole casing but not sure.

Oh, and it has a OEM rear rack that pivots up so you can get to tool box and a OEM hitch.

I was going to clean it up and sell it but on the way home I changed my mind.

I'll sell one of the three 225's I have instead and besides it looks a whole lot like a mini SX 250 and since I have one they will look cool side by side.

I put a deposit on it and will surely post tons of pic's on it when I get it.

:wondering Doesn't anyone own a nice one on here? I never hear talk about the 86 or 87 at all. The 86 is identical I assume except for tank graphics?

Guess I'll have the nicest one on here now :D

I do need one part for it Fox and that is , well I'm sort of confused because the headlight or casing is not broke at all yet all the framing (not the chrome rim) is teaked around it. I think it has the optional headlight guard which is bent down but then they have some other weird part tied on it too? In the picture here it just looks like your typical head light barckets and I don't recall seeing them like that so I imagine that's what I need. Can you check on that for me?

 He has a 79 US 90 too that he wants 150 for!! It runs but needs plastic and other items too I imagine. The plastic is on it but the rear has been fiberglass repaired and the front has a hole in it and think it was faded. Tank needs a paint job and a kreem job also. The plastic isn't that bad though till you would find nicer stuff. Aren't they worth a good buck?

Thanks!!

WOWZA !!! Very decent shape. I never see anyone post pic's of them!

You do realize those things are priceless, right? The one I'm getting won't go out of my hands for any price, period! I see less of that model then any other Honda model made!

I'm not sure what a real nice one would go for on eaby? I know I'd have a reserve of 25-3000 (I know, sounds ridiculous) or so. Probably wouldn't sell but then if someone really wants one you never know.

I'm glad you can still get the head light bracket from Honda because on mine (well, soon to be) it's trashed.

Only thing missing on mine is the rear grab bar (you too) which I noticed right of way but then since it has the rear rack (very cool!) I thought the mounting for grab bar was used for the rack but I'm not positive. Hmmm, and if was missing that then the tailight would be missing too or was the taillight on the rack  . Now I can't remember

It most definitly has a headlight guard on it too + the hitch. Still has the tools too.

You the only one on here that has a decent one?

? ? ?'s Whats your story on how you found yours? The owner realize how rare it is or have not a clue? How much coin in our $$? How long did you have it? Anyone else have one in your area?

Mine was $350 . I consider that a real bargin :beer

Post all the pictures you want too!! If it needs things (grab bar?), give me your list and I'll keep your name & model above my computer so it's handy if I find something.

Thank you!

I'll post pics ASAP! Minute I get it, it gets a well deserved bath and then it's photo shoot time. :D

Hey you guys, ya know whats a bit odd price wise, the headlight bracket!

The 87 is still obtainable from Honda and is 28.60 and it has the side mounts on it that the 84-85 don't have.

The 84-85 from Honda can still be had for 67.51  and like I said has less to it

I have a 86 125m, but it's a beat machine. It got beat real bad on it's last outing ( by accident ):

Note the rear fenders aren't original, but they do work.

I sort of figured you would have one! How I missed that story who knows?

That held up quite well considering the tumbles it took. Going to fix her all up eventually? Give me your list because I'll be on the prowl a lot more often since I own one now. I just love the looks of those! :beer

I have a brand new set of Ohstus P/V 301's. Are they the ones that came stock on it and is that what is in picture? If not, they look very simular.

Well I guess they (301's) are not stock because I looked at the picture I posted again and the tread looks different. What are the correct ones then?

I just stopped back at the ATC 70 guy and he sure doesn't seem energetic about finding the owner

That was a while ago I 1st posted on that. I'm just going to keep hounding him till he either makes an effort of finding the guy or he tells me in his own way that he doesn't want to sell it.

Maybe 400 cash in front of his face would change his mind. ;)

Is that how you guys would go about it? Would you offer that much?

Yea, the 125m not only looks like the SX but has the exact same features. reverse is set up identical too. Come to think of it I'm not sure if it is a 4 or 5 speed? The "old" ones were 4 and this one 5, is that how it goes?

Actually we aren't planning on much fix up for it. Basically, this isn't a show machine, it a rider for my boys, and they are happy with it as is.
What we did fix so far: The handle bars were straightened.

What is damaged but no plans to fix anytime soon: The kill switch is trashed but useable ( The key switch works fine ), Starter switch works good, Even with the rear rims, hubs, and axle bent it rides pretty smooth. Other than seat & fenders I have everything I need to fix it. And we aren't worried about the seat & fenders.

400 for this model 70 is cheap! It was the 1st year I am told. Thing would fetch as much if not more then my SX once it's redone!

I checked on the 125m today. The headlight brackets were mashed up, and it didn't have any sort of headlight guard. It does have the grab bar, a little rusty but it looked strait, unfortunately I forgot to get a price on it.

I've got a good friend who used to be a member on here, who has both an '86 and '87 125M. His user name was 87_SX, or MY87_SX...something along those lines. Look him up if you need any questions.

If the manual you are talking about is the Clymer that covers, ATC-TRX-Fourtrax/ 70-125- 1970-1987, it does not cover the 86-87 125M even though theres a picture on the front of the 86. I know it's stupid of them to show a trike that the manual doesn't cover. If you look on the back it tells what it covers and the 86-87 125M is not on there. I know I was decieved.

No it does not cover either one. Nor the trx with upright motors.
