I have been getting my motor ready to be put back together, and then I realized I didnt have a valve spring compressor. Well, In my usual cheap way, I decided to go redneck on something and come up with my own tool. I looked through my tool box, and decided that a flywheel/gear puller, a 13mm wrench, and a pair of needle nose pliers would do the trick.
As I was doing it, I had to laugh at how stupid this looked. Heres a pic of the setup.

heres a tip for you guys that dont have a valve spring compressor....use a washer rag and your hand cause thoughs springs are small and not that strong....thats what i did... put the washer around the top put a rag on the washer and press down on either side....the keepers fell out everytime i did it and it worked great!

I guess I can't say anything, I use a giant C clamp instead of the puller and a nut that I cut in half instead of the wrench. I have pulled several sets of valves like this, if it works then why not?

I was not getting them out, i was putting it back together, try reading the post  .
For getting them out I just put a socket on the retainer and tap it with a hammer.

i made a valve spring compressor out of a c-clamp and i had a piece of 1 inch solid stock and i cut i nice grove in the middle of it and welded the stock to the end of the c-clamp, it works great, ill have to take some pictures of it.

I have used a C-Clamp and a oxygen sensor socket to do valve jobs. Have a couple differnent valve spring compressors and for isome reason or another they have interference issues every know and again. Sometimes you just hve to use your imagination to get things done.
