I've been looking around on here and i've seen where people have roughed up there steel plates in their clutch. I was wondering how much you rough them up and what you use to rough them up. Any answers will help........Thanks

I rub them on a concrete floor in my garage, in a circular motion. just a little is all you need, then wipe them clean.

Well I picked them up from my local motorcycle shop this morning. I asked the mechanic if i should rough them up. He said that you don't need to because then they will grab to much and be jerky and hard on your clutch.

I wouldnt think that roughing them up would be hard on your clutch, well maybe would chew your fibres up a little quicker. I didnt do it on mine and it doesnt slip so I don't think its abosolutly neccesary.

the only time i ever mess with my clutch metals is if the fibers are otast and i can afford the entire kit. then i use like 600 grit or something and take the burnt oil off them....works pretty good so far...

They are cheap on the 'bay. Just remember to tighten the posts equally next time!

Ok...well i broke 2 of the "teeth" thingys trying to tighten the nut to the correct amount of pressure. I used a thick steel pipe to stop the pressure plate and insides from spinning and they just broke. Is the insides of the clutch basket suppose to spin freely? If not then somthings wrong. Also my shift lever just kinda dropped when i touched it. It moves freely up and down now. Does that happen when you have the clutch components off? Any answers are appreciated..............Caleb
