i posted this in another forum, but decided to put it in one of its own so you guys can see. its only about 8$ to do, simple, and effective!

go to walgreens or walmart, anywhere basicaly, and buy a window alarm thing for 6$. the kind that scream when the magnetic peice away from it.
http://firsthomesecurity.com/homeprotection/homesecuritystore_1774_814361.jpg

use adhesive to put the magnet on the inside of your fork closest to the tank when the bars are turned all to a side, and use adhesive to put the sensor unit under the tank, downtubes, neck, or anywhere close to the magnet. tilt the bars to the side so that the magnet and alarm are touching. arm the sensor and your ready to go. as soon as the bars move, the magnet moves away from the sensor, and the thing screams like a atc500r at wot  . any burglar who tries to turn the wheel or even touches it, has the whole neighborhood awake.

you can also do the same thing, with the alarm on the inside of a fork closest to the rim, and mount the magnet on the rim lip. line the two up and arm. when the front tire moves, it trips the alarm.

hope this helps you guys out. i use mine alot in the woods because theres no key on my atc.

 another tip if you dont want it permanent is to use velcrow strips to secure the magnet and alarm, so that it can be taken off.

my alarm came with a key to arm and disarm it, so its basicaly foolproof.

Great idea! :beer

Now I can store mine a few miles down the road in another garage.

I was always afraid to because of no alarm and there was no electric to hook one up.

How do you arm the sensor though? By a key?

I've used them to keep the kids outta the garage :D The ones I have, have an alarm, of and chime setting. Once the alarm unit moves away from the magnet base it sounds off............and is actually pretty loud.

No. Its just an on/off switch. The theif could easily turn it off, but it would still scare the **** out of them.
I got one of them from the "Dollar Tree" (local store) for a dollar and its exactly the same as that. Saves you $6 bucks if you can find a dollar store near you that has them. They are loud as heck though!

If the theif is familure with them, what is to stop him from turning it off so it doesn't activate? Then he will steal your machine and the alarm!

actually, on mine,(white smith and wesson alarm) to activate it, you need to remove a special key. once its tripped, it cant be turned off, except by the specail key. its pretty good quality too. even if a burgaler is familiar with these alarms, he would have to take the alarm off, and smash it, which would take at least 15 seconds. the whole time it would be screaming loud enough to wake you up. most robbers wont risk being caught though, so when it goes off their runnin.

it was 8$ at a walgreens down the street.

I see you can get one for 20 bucks (a bit pricey) but it's 130 decibals with a key pad.

Looks good and to stop them from even getting close to the machines this would be nice too.
