View Full Version : 85-86 250R forks on a Tri-Z

Anyone ever thought of this? I know some people have used the front hub assembly, but I was wondering if anyone has tried using the whole front end, or any variation of such.

The 250R forks seem to be much larger in diameter and the use of the 23" front tire would bring that front down to match the 86 Z.

I'm wondering if this is a feasible swap simply because of the lack of availability of the 86 Z front end.

Couldn't tell you about a complete swap but the R forks are the same size as the 86 Z and slip right into those clamps with ease.

The forks on the 86 Z have more travel and are comparable (and very close in action)...I would not consider this.

Yes but what he is getting at is R forks as an upgrade to the 85 Z I would imagine as the 86 Z forks are scarce.

exactly. The 86 Z forks might as well be non-existant. Not to mention the availability of the R forks and brakes and hubs, etc.
