The 83 model aTc 70 we have had developed a hard start issue. After replacing the coil we moved on to the points and condensor. Basically the spark was weak and figured the 23 year old points were the cause. As you know the new condensor and the old field wires have to be soldered together. Which is a biatch!!! After putting everything back together and adjusting the points ( twice) we have no spark at all. Any suggestions.????? What has been your experience replacing the condensor and points?

Id say * prolly didnt get good contact when ya soldered the wires back on,when i changed my last set out i removed the whole stator plate so i could do it on the work bench made it alot easier.

Yeah, I soldered them with the stator on the bike   ... I will remove the stator and try to solder them again. Can you set the points with stator cover off?? With the cover on you can barely see the points.

You have to set the points while the stator is on and the flywheel thats the only way to set them and make sure the start to open and fully open at the correct time.
what did ya set the points at?
