The aluminum rims for my 200x were painted so I scrubbed all the paint off with some steel wool. What do I do now? I would like to polish them up some more but didn't know if they will corrode or something. If I polish them will they stay looking nice?

this is a quote from a fork polishing thread. "unless you coat those suckers, which look great!!!, with a polished aluminium clearcoat, they will corrode quick. the eastwood company makes a special clear for polished metal."

Look up my "HOW TO: Fork Polishing" thread. It will tell you everything you need to know about it.
And I polished my forks (which I believe are aluminum as well) about a month or more ago, and they are still shiny. Sure, it gets alot of dirt down there so they aren't always clean.. but they are always shiny. And I haven't had a problem with corroding or anything. Still looks the same as the day I polished them.

if you take some aluminum / mag polish like mothers that should bring the shine up. after you polish them they will get dirty obviously, just take a rag after you washed them off and they will still look decent. and if they get dull after awhile just go over them with the aluminum polish.

don't worry polished aluminum will not corrode. it will only corrode if its left outside for years. and even then it can be brought back.
