look i have this tecate roller and a 1985 kx125 do you think the 125 motor could handle running in the tecate.i think it would be a cool woods trike i would run smaller rims and tires in the rear maybe 8" rimes with 20 inch tires. i would also use the forks of the dirt bike.ill mill out the tecate tress to be able to fit the bigger forks. what do you guys think has anyone ever done anything similar to this.also will the dirt bike shock fit in the tecate?.post your ideas good or bad im trying to feel out this idea

not enough power and will have to gear it down like a tractor to even tget the 125 to power the tecate.

Got a pic of the KX motor? This topic has been done to death but it boils down to the KX motor not being able to fit due to the exhaust port on the 85 KX's exiting right where the Tecate down tube runs. BUT!!! I say if you have the fabrication skills and tools go ahead and chop the damn tube outta the way and make it fit. The set the chassis up however ya want.

It would run just fine. Lower the gearing a bit,and put on some smaller tires.

sell the bike and get a KX250 motor...then *'ll be rollin. 125s have no bottom end I was gonna do this to a 200x, people said no..so i duno. Your choice.

The pre 85 KX motors are like the T3 motors so they are the ideal swaps. The KX would power that thing fine with a big sprocket in back, its not a frickin 70 motor lol, its full on MX powerplant, ya think its gutless? ( 70 motor would still move the thing)

hey here are the pics of the bike it looks like it would fit with no problem.man they sy this motor puts out like 30 horsepower.that is almost as much as some trikes and quads and that with no modes there should be plenty of power you would think.

hey i was also looking at the swing arm and it looks like the swing arms will interchange with no problems man i might just do a complete kx125 conversion.ill press out the stering stem out of the 125 then use either the 84 trees or a set of 86 trees so i can put on a better looking front fender.ill also use the gas tank on the bike i might not be able to use the radiator on the bike i might have to go with the tree mount radiator well see.i wont beable to start the trike for alittle while yet.i have to get my banshee running again first i went and got some of my parts the last couple days i should have it all rebuilt in the next week or so.

Yes, the motor puts out enough power. But where is all the power delivered at.......Higher up in the rpm's, so depending on what you want to do with it it may not be the best fit for your riding style. If you went with the 250 or even the 500 your low end will increase a lot to say the least. But then agian, im not saying you cant mod the 125 engine to give it the neccasary low end power. I would suggest really lookin hard into what your doin before you do it, get an actual dyno sheet to see where the main power delivery is at with the 125 compared to the 250. Just make sure you do your homework.......

i say convert the bike into a trike....put some 18" turf tamers on the ass-end and swap the fornt ends and then that 125 would be sick!!!! maybe take some 86-87 t-3 rear plastic and modify it to look good on the bike.... and it would def haul ass i dont think an extra 50 or so pounds would affect it too much, and it would look old-school racer-ish...
