Finally :w00t: The ATC speedo I won off of e-bay arrived today. The seller had listed the item and I found it with in the first hour. His auction was for the speedo only, but had a pic of the BR he was parting out. He had his opening bid at $15.00. So I contacted him and asked him about the rest of the components and he said he had everything that went with it. With in a few e-mails I had him talked into a buy it now, which he did. So here is what I got, the speedo, 85 BR Bracket, speedo drive, cable which is missing the drive end for the speedo, 2 Clamps, and a rubber insulator, which I guess is for the clamp. Here are some pics

Nice man!!! Can't wait to see the pics of it on your X! You should have that 200e gearbox soon too! So what did you give for all that?

Look on eBay for a Honda cable... email the seller to get the lenth and buy one that is 32-34". You can use that second clamp to hold the cable close to the lower triple clamp... I will get a pic of my setup tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about.

And John... nice work on your Big Reds!!!! :beer

I tried to buy it for $160.00 which I thought was fair, especially with no pics of the speedo. I actually ended up spending a little more because at the time I was Freakin nervous that others had seen it and were homing in on it at the same time. I was surprised to see the clamps and bracket because I never mentioned those...knowing the bracket wouldn't fit either or mine.

Hey good score on getting that speedo setup. I actually cleaned up my speedo head and mounting bracket, then painted them both and it looks like brand new now. Just tape off the face of the speedo. I'd recommend doing that before you get it all mounted...put some clear coat(spray) over it too...

Hmmmmm.... nah... I guess not. I'll set it over with my 4 Black Number plates for my 3 Hondaline fairings.... Those 350X gearboxes are easy to find... I guess I'll hang on to them.

I thought I had paper work on a speedo install but don't. I have other hondaline install paperworks but not on the speedo - sorry.

john

Yeah... I gave you the paper work for the Tachometer, not the Speedometer. Yeah.... Dead, that scan is probably from one of my posts. Oh... I also have a 83-84R or a 83-85 200X speedo gearbox and mounting bracket here too, but guess they are easy to find too. I'm not sure if the 200ES one will work on the cast hubs... I know it looks different, let us know if it works.

Here's what I was talking about to do with the second clamp. Just put it on the fork boot so it don't damage the forks.... looks cool IMO.

I got my cable NOS from a local dealer... but like I siad you can go to your dealer and just ask them if they have any HONDA cable that is the right lenth. The one on my 350x is 34". Just make sure that the bottom of the cable you buy is "correct", some of them screw in just like on top by the speedo.

Here are some 250es install instructions I just scanned. The 350x is different but it gives you a basic idea.

While I'm at it I'll post the 200x install instructions too. As you can see the 200x kit has a "Fender Holder"... it's not really nessesary but you should probably use a zip tie to tie the cable to the fork in the place of the fender holder. ;)

Lenths of my stock 200x cables are about 29" if my memory serves me right...

Thanks professor. I probably will need those scans. I am trying to get the other bits and pieces together first. I will let you know. I agree that the scans would be helpful to all. I have Hondaline instructions for the overfender stabilizers, but they are easier than the speedos.

That is a great idea! Lets see... I got instuctions for the 200es, 250es, and 200x speedos; HL lense grille instructions for 83-84 R and 250es; 350x rear over fenders and HL guard; and rubber footpeg covers for the 200e/200es.

Would we also need the french instuctions?

Yeah we could probably do something like that on the site. Best thing is to probably mail me a CD. THen I can take it to my moms office and upload everything there on broadband instead of out here on dialup.

200es speedo instructions
82-84 Big Red "Rubber Steps" instructions
250es HL Lens Grille instructions
83-84 250r HL lens grille instructions
350x HL guard w/built in grille instructions

I don't think I have the software to transfer the scans to .pdf format, so I'll scan them and send in .jpg form.
