Here's another forgotten RARE Trike...

I was looking through my vast picture archive and came across these pics I had forgotten all about:

KTM 250 & KTM 495. I believe they were built by Frank's. Similar to Tricky Dick and his Cagiva that came along a couple years later.

wow Pomona isnt very far from me maby 2 hours i might have to make a couple trips down there and see if i can find some stuff about them hehe maby my tiger dream migh of changed to a KTM do you have any more pics of those bad boys??

like husquavarna and some of the other overseas companies, ktm made some prototypes for racing use. They were never production models (and if they were i dont know about it and they were an extremely limited build). Like the other companies ktm used their prototypes for racing R&D, but the trikes were going to be phased out anyway and they saw this.

I have heard those KTM 495's are supposed to be the fastest production dirtbike ever made. I have no saddle time or radar guns to prove this that's why I said I have heard,they from what I hear are said to do 120+mph. anyone else heard this?

The 495 is a fast bike, but I wouldn't be so quick to say its the fastest. Some of the new maico 500's are truly strong running bikes (puts the honda 500 and kawasaki to shame). In many situations you have to baby it in 3rd gear while starting out to avoid digging yourself a trench and getting passed by 125's while your making an irrigation system.
