Anyone know what kind of gas mileage a 250R gets? Just in case we have to start riding these things instead of driving cars. News is reporting gas shortages coming.

Just a 'regular' (hehe) carb'd R, I'd say bout 30 miles per gallon.

Thats kind of a broad question...wholy dependant on engine RPM. I've burned as much as a full tank in 20 minutes, and as little as a full tank in 6 hours of nonstop riding.

It took me less than an hour to burn 10L (about 2 1/2 gallons) of gas in my tri-z, buts its running like crap right now, I need some leaner jets!

In the desert out here I can get from california city to randsburg(awesome old mining towm)and back with some play time on the way there on a tank of gas. It is aprox 45 miles round trap and I am on empty when I get back.

Wish I had desert to ride in LOL What gear did you run in and do you know the carb jetting?
Thats a 2.6 gallon tank over 45 + miles is about 17 + mpg. Depends on how much roosting is in between...

Thats a 2.6 gallon tank over 90 miles is about 35 mpg, not bad.
Nope, look at his post again... 45 miles "round trip". I'd say that mine gets about 20 miles/gal but I've got a BIG OLD carb on (38mm Mikuni with 310 main, not sure on the rest), and I'm usually ride'n up and down the dunes @ a fast pace. My car definately gets more MPG (ave. 30mpg city right now)... oh well...
If ya kept off the power-band it may sip up around 30mpg, heck stock setup probably 40mpg, but that's no fun.

I'm gonna put my auto radials on my EX and 36 tooth sprocket and start riding it to work. I can get there on 6.6 miles on county roads and back roads. I've put 76 miles on my EX before with plenty of gas left in the 2.6 gallon tank. Gonna put a clean K&N on it too, to make sure I get the most mileage out of it. I should be able to make maybe bout 6 trips to work hopefully. We'll see.

My father in law has 3 car tires on a Honda 110 - strange looking contraption but it works.
If you do ride to work, please post the results, be interesting to see what happens.

here's a couple pics from my camara phone of it in 'road' trim, the color in the pics is terrible, way too red, but you get the idea. The tires are Kumho 145R/10's, like $24 a piece if I remember right. Had em for a couple years. I have flush mounted valve stems on these wheels, and can flip them around for extra width. The quad needs a bath, too.

The main is a 145. needle is stock in the 3rd position. pilot is stock. I take the hard way there over lots of STEEP and rocky hills with some small dunes just outside of town and the asy way back. There is everything from 1st gear on hills to 4th on the trails. The way back is w.f.o. on fireroad. not much roosting on the way back as I usually have some drinks in town. Randsburg, Ca is awesome! :beer

I have license on a 1982 Honda XL500R. I've been riding it a lot more lately. It gets 60 miles per gallon. For the last 2 years I've been driving a full size Bronco and getting 10 miles per gallon- spending almost $600 per month on gas. I also picked up a Contour that gets 32 miles per gallon so I'm in good shape now. Even with the increase in gas I'm still spending hundreds less per month than I'm used to.
