I found my 250r!!!!!!!

I was out riding around on the wife's 200x today and went by the neighbor's house and he waved me over. I 've seen him in the past riding a 200x but not in a while so I figured he sold it. He did. He tells me he has a 1985 250r he is looking to sell and asks if I know anyone interested in it. Well I know about 300 people interested in it but I did'nt tell him. I told him I was looking for another project after the wife's was done and a watercooled 250r would be my next. I ask how much and he say's ......ready.......$400.00 cash. BOING!!!!

He gave me a pic of it to show the wife (she does'nt know yet) so I took a pic of it to post. It's all original except tires and Bored .30 over. I'm picking it up Friday. :w00t: I took a look at it and it was muddy but in real good condition. It was stuffed in the back of his shed so he could'nt get it out.

He said it does need a clutch. But that's no deal breaker. LOL

You can't really see it TOO well from the pictures to know what is really wrong with it. But I would guess $700 or so. Probly more, but hey.

You could ebay it and get over a grand easily I bet. Even with the goofy 200x headlight and way too big tires. I'd pay $400 for it in a heartbeat. That's a steal for a water pumper in decent condition. In fact, I have family in Ohio so if you don't get it, let me know. ;)

The only thing that kills the looks a big, the 200x parts. I see those rear 200x wheels and front head light. Easy fixs. Take good care of her!

Picked it up (actually the guy rode it over) last night. I had a lot of washing to do today. It sat in his shed since April 04. He says that was the last itme it was ran.

It runs like a top, kinda smokey, probably from old gas and oil. Just gotta get a new clutch and front fork seals in it. I think the front shock may be a tad bent but not sure.

I see what you mean wit the forks, They are slighty bend. You can fix that, right? oh well just change out that front headlight and your set!

Yea. I think I'll go with a number plate on the front and get some 18" trekkers or knarl'y and it'll be set.

Depends on how badly bent the forks are. Take them to a reputable machine shop & have them put them in a hydraulic press. Make sure to tell them not to scar them up by using pieces of aluminum between the press & your forks.
I've had this done a couple of times with good results.

Get a '86 R headlight or one off a 350x. Way better looking than what's on there or a '85 R headlight.

I put the 200x headlight on the wife's 200x and the 350x headlight from it on the r. It looks alot better. Now to get the clutch in. I got an itch that needs scratchin (speed).

Up here in Canada you usually see R's for sale for about 1500- 2500. Theres a real nice one in mint condition up here for sale for 2500.
