I think 86 was the last year for US sales but Canada sold them a little longer.

I hear that a lot but never see anything to back it. I'd ask you to prove it but you don't like backing up anything.
EDIT: By saying I never see anything to back it, I mean there is no 87's so lets not worry about any false info about canadian trikes.

Mine is 8/85 also. I have never seen one later, but I'm sure they are out there.

There was a consent decree between the US Federal Govt and ATV distributors in April 1988 to ban the sale of 3 wheel ATVs. This was a result of the CPSCs report in Nov '86.
The 97 CPSC report puts 3 wheel ATV injuries at 2.5 - 3 times higher than 4 wheel ATVs.
There was a peak in ATV related deaths and ER admissions in 1986.
From a US Federal Govt report. Geeks got all kinds of sources LOL
Old school , do you have a problem that we need to discuss on the board?
Did you read the item from the Moderators about useless posts or do you always post things that are irrelevant?
you being a moderator should know that personal insults are childish and of all people should know better.
Did you not get enough love at home as a child? Im sure we can build an emotional support group to help you over your immature tendencies.

Geekster, we're all very well aware of the Consent Decree and a few of us even lived through it. OS86 was refering to proving 1987 ATC 250R's were ever made. There's been a lot of rumors, stories, pictures and brochures, but can you prove there were ever any that made it out into the general public's hands before they were chopped up and sold for scrap metal? We also know that there are other 1987 three wheeled models out there, so don't go there, just show us an 87 250R and you will be revered as the God that you already think you are.

Thats immaterial, both of you are deliberately posting off topic just to slander me.
Does it make you feel good to slander and attack others personally?
Or what is your basic problem? There are more than one decent user here that would like to know/

OS86 was refering to proving 1987 ATC 250R's were ever made. .
Thats simply a lie.
Heres what OS wrote:
"I hear that a lot but never see anything to back it. I'd ask you to prove it but you don't like backing up anything."
IS there anything in there about 1987, or anything else thats not outright slander and personal hatred?

Seeing when the R's were made gave me this weird feeling. Like imagine working at the factory then. I bet honda was making them as fast as they could. Someone needs to make a kit to convert dirtbikes into trikes. :TrikesOwn :w00t:

So if 86 was the last year for US sales, what year comes next? I don't think OS86 needed to say 1987, it's just a given because it's all about simple calendar years dude, after 1986 comes 1987, after 1987, is 1988 and so on and so on. I'm done with this one.
Pete, sorry about hijacking your thread.

I think the problem is that sadly most of the date tags are missing from the 250Rs :(

i think your right Billy............but i'll like to know if any of the Canada bikes had a late date code because they were the same spec as the Europe/middle east bikes.(reflectors on grab etc)

I dont know, I'd say they almost would have to. I dont doubt there are some mid year 86's around in the states here either. You might checkout Mobular's trike registry and see if he has any listed.

Here's a pic of my '86 250R on my last riding trip. It has 9/85 on the tag. It's weird how the digital camera makes the bike look like an '83! The bike is surrounded by trailers and the light bounces around, just an optical illusion.

FWIW I DO have the original 87 ATC lineup brochure. Which, of course, does include the 250r!!!

I'm not sure what your claiming here but a brochure doesn't prove production.

All the brochure proves in my opinion is that the corporate sales dept of Honda Motor Co., LTD have a picture of a 87 250R in their sales lineup. The 87 Big Red, 200x and SX are also included which did make it to the dealers.

No, the decal has 8/85 on it.
Can't say I've ever seen a 1/86 decal.
Who's to say that wasn't replaced during the past 19 years.
It LOOKS original.
The VIN and Certificate of Origin match.

ok im lost on this thread....are you guys saying that 86 models were not produced anymore after 85... or just not sold after 85.....i thought that 3wheelers all models orther then the 87 250r and 350x were produced and sold everywhere intill december of 87 or something like that.....and then the 88 bigred was sold in orther countrys till april of 88

From what I always thought, the end of 1986 was the end of trike sales.
Mine has a 10/86 Certificate of Origin and a 12/86 sale date.
Meaning it's one of the last of the last, right?
Not to get in a fight here, but i do know for a FACT that ther was a 87 250r my dentist had one new back in the day, with the white plastics and everything, i almost **** myself when he said this, im Still trying to track it down, last he knows he sold it to a guy in 94.....still hunting for it lmao..

Did Canada ban the trikes in 1986?
Or were they available for 1987 there?
You always hear about the "stray" 1987 that exists.
Man, I'd love to see one. :)

there are 87 atc250r and 350x motors out there, the rest of the bikes had to be there at one time. but 20 years later, how many parts got used for race bikes and the rest went to scrap yards, I highly doubt a 87 250r or 350x will ever appear, old pictures might, but not the actual bike.
