View Full Version : cheap paint for engine and pipe

the paints looking faded out on my motor and pipe. i just want to touch it up, not take out the motor, resand, prime, etc. what kind of spray paint can i just spray on to bring the color back? can i use engine enamel on the pipe and motor? thanks

I know for the pipe that BBQ paint works great. Great finish for what you pay, did that to my Z pipe and works good. Dont know about the engine, someone else will chime in for that...

Im going to suggest staying away from BBQ paint. It handles heat well but does not stand up to petroleum base liquids at all. Okay as long as you dont spill any gas on it, or have leakage around your header (like most do). You can buy 1200 degree exhaust paint at any KMart as well as automotive engine enamels. I had chevy orange on my top end for a long time.

WOuld 500 degree work just as good Tim?
