Got some bugs to work out but yes it starts and drives just fine!

Ok, One of the major factors in me decideing to do this was well, 1st I'm a pretty big guy and the 200x just felt small to me when I sat on it. Another reason is this will fit my style of riding waay better than the trike. I do alot of hunting/fishing/camping so I felt this would be a better machine. There's supposibly a carb/fuel problem with the quad it shuts down after about twenty minuts or so. He thinks it may get vapor locked. I don't know if they will let me ask this or if I have to start a new thread but what causes it to vapor lock and what can I do to remedy this.
Oh and for those of you wondering... I have an 86' 200x that I already have a deposit on and all it needs is rear axle bearings. Just so you guys don't think i'm a trader :D I couldn't go very long with out having an ole Honda three wheeler. ;) :TrikesOwn

Vapor lock is caused by cool fuel entering a hot area. This causes the fuel to expand & not want to flow in the direction it should. It was common on old cars w/ mechanical fuel pumps mounted on the engine. Especially on hot days.
Not sure what would cause it on a quad though, maybe incorrect fuel line routing or a missing heat shield somewhere? Make sure the fuel tank is venting properly, maybe thats all it is.

to hell with that quad..
I want to know how the X ran after the carb got put back on.. and what happened with the kicker after all ?

Great deal ya got there!
As far as the vapor lock it could also be the stator - magneto wiring possibly. If the wiring is faulty sometimes it shows up when hot and motor shuts down then when motor cools down it will restart again.
When it does this (shut down) immeadiatly check for spark and if you don't have any you will know if it is electrical or not.
I'll have to come up and check out your new toy. Certainly looks A-OK to me though.

Well, thanks for the compliments and complaints...
bigredhead... I put the carb on the X and we towed it down the street with the grizzly... She fired right up but was stil running a bit rough. These guys (that did the trade) know more about carbs than I ever will. They said it still sounded like it needed to be rejetted. I sure was good to hear it run and it was the first time I seen it drive. I know it went to a good home. And be well taken care of. I also have a new headlight shell and kicker I will be mailing to them when I get them in the mail ;)
Huffa... The wiring on the CDI was all replaced and it has a brand new top end on it (I got reciepts) First order of bisiness will be getting a manual. I took the fenders off and I was amazed how much more complicated these golfcarts are compared to that little X. Hope you can make it up sometime... Gotta show you around. Maybe you can bring a trike for me to ride since I never even got to take that 200x out at all. :( Oh by the way... It's nice to see you back on the boards gary. We've missed you :D
I would also like to thank all you wonerful people on here that helped me out when I had questions. (ALOT OF QUESTIONS) :D When I was bringing that trike back to life.

it shuts off huh? try checkin all the hoses to the carb..a couple are vent hoses and if they get clogged it will not let air through to the carb..the airbox isnt the only thing that lets it get air...just a suggestion

I'll do that... I'm going to give this a good once over. I found out today that the starter sticks on it a bit. (stays engaged) I think it's all pretty much minor stuff and some odds and ends to button up. The more I'm out there looking it over the more happy I am that I did this trade. Anyone have a used manual they want to sell? :D

If that golf cart runs for say 20 minutes and then dies; I'd not be looking at the carb, but be searching the gas tank vent. Sounds like the vent off the gas tank is plugged or turned off. My old Big Red use to have a vent switch on the gas cap. IF I drove it with it "Off" it run ok for like 10 minutes of so and die. Basically, you suck gas out of the bottom of the tank with the carb/motor for so long and if the tank can't pull in air to replace that volume of fuel, it creates a vacuum and will eventually become so great that it works against the force of gravity. Also; double check to see if it has a fuel pump... it might and also check for any blockage of a fuel filter either external or in the petcock. Anyhow... if it runs for 20 minutes and dies, it's not carb IMO, but a fuel delivery problem.

Quads are yuck but that was a great trade. Did the guy want a trike really bad?

Yes. He traded a 250r for this grizzly but never got the grizzly to run right. He put a new rear end in it a topend rebuild and they also fixed something with the CDI wiring. Cost him almost $1200 And it's still doing what it did before all that work. :wondering So now it's my problem I guess... I sure do miss that trike  But I'm just tickled pink about this quad. :D

I'm not talking about that CDI wiring, I'm referring to the stator assembly (#1 below). When they go bad that's exactly what happens sometimes - runs till hot then quits and then cools down and starts up again.
That part is mighty expensive at $252 for a new one and if you would need that and have to buy it new, you still got a great deal! Maybe on ebay you can find one and save tons? :beer

1st decifer if it is fuel or a spark related problem though so you know where to start and check venting like Bruce says. It would be something if it was the venting all along! I wouldn't think it would run for 20 minutes though if it was the venting but I could be wrong.
