Blackwaters on a 2-stroke... Anyone run them?

I found a really good deal on a set of brand-new 20x12x8 Blackwaters. Anyone ever run them on their 2-stroke. I was thinking these may work real good for the up-coming harescrambles this winter as well as for occasional trail riding.

Think their too bulky? I wonder if they would be real hard on bearings, being as their so wide.

In case you haven't looked in your garage lately, you don't have anything you would ever ride in the mud that would need Blackwaters. I really don't even know if they would be any good.

Both Blackwaters and Realtors are VERY heavy and take some real ass to swing them. Especially in the mud. I think they'd be a little too much on the 2 stroke. Also very stiff, heavy sidewalls.

For a good mud and trail tire that will not weigh a TON and would perform well, I'd go with the Mudlites. I know the whole reason for this debate is you got a good deal on the BWaters, but I think you'll be disappointed with them.

we used to run them on a blaster!!!!very good tire for mud and snow.i think realtors would be a better choice but the black waters would go good on the 500,or the yt 175.

Blackwaters are the most awful tire I have ever run. They are heavy as blocks, and ride like them too. They are so hard that with 0 pressure you still cant flex them. They get good traction in mud, and are indestructable, but aside form that, they are HORRIBLE. Expect reduced life on bearings and shock. If you can ride on them on a YT175 hard tail without singing soprano after a miles miles, you are not human.

I just picked up a pair for my 200X. They're 22"x12"...big tire! I run 22" Klaws now. I'm thinking I'll only use the Blackwaters in the snow.

i think the blackwaters would be OK if you just use them occasionally... If your getting a good deal don't pass it up. Lately I've noticed everyone and their mothers are running mudsharks on their quads. They swear by em. Basically the same thread pattern but I guess they are lighter and have a lower profile.

Exactly Tim and I have to say I felt the same about the realtors. I had a set of realtors once and couldn't wait to get rid of them. They were like wearing wooden shoes!

Youre going to find that they suck in the snow. They will move you forward, but you cant go in a straight line as there is no side traction.

Several of us in our riding group got them early on when they were a new item. Since we were Blackwater 100 fans, they naturally drew our attention. Now we all get a big laugh out of how goofy we were to actually run those things!

I won the 2003 New London, Ohio mudbog series championship 300cc class on a TRX250R with Maxi All Trax. I was undefeated other than one match where I got a bad plug boot wet, and was missing very badly. Still took 2nd to a guy sporting Maxi SureTrax. Derrick and I kicked major butt at the Sunset Ramblers mega mud harescramble last spring, both sporting All Trax on our TriZ's. We passed a lot of people stuck in the mud. Id confidently match them against Blackwaters any day in mud or snow.

My brother had a set of blackwaters on his 350x, and they were horrible. The tread bars are to far apart, and it felt like you were "clomping" along when you rode it. And like they said, they are so hard and rough riding. He actually traded them even up for a set of Trail Pros, and I don't like them, but it definately was a good trade, just for the fact that it rode alot smoother.

I just bought a set for my 200x And personally I have drove them up and down the alley in the mud and on the sand so far and I have to say that I like them. They are definitly heavy but they have real good grip and can throw some mud. It is all just a matter of opinion. I say give them a try. Wont ever know till you do.

That's what I'm thinkin'. They only ran me $10, so I figured I'd try them out.

You know, I think one of the first things TimSr said to me after dropping off my 250r at forward air was that "those blackwaters have to go". I still have the 250r tore down restoring it, but I tried them on my 200x. Outside of when I was riding around in marsh, it was one of the worst experiences I have had riding. Anything that is hard pack will shake you to death and they sucked cornering unless it was mud/snow. Find something better :eek:

I had a set of the first generation Black Waters (solid tread) on my '90 LT250R when I first got it - and they gave me fits. I ended up smoking a clutch because of them.

$10 for the most crappy tire an't bad. :) If you dont like them you can get your money back id think
