Just did a carb clean/rebuild and I found a problem with the choke valve. When I removed it from the body and operated it, I found that it travels smoothly for most of the travel and then "locks in" at the two grooves about half way down the shaft. Is that the mid and full choke positions or is that a problem. The choke had not been working right before the cleanup.

my 86 350x has two choke positions that lock into place as you describe. so I don't think you have a problem

when installed, the upper notch (or all the way up) is the starting position. then after she starts you bump it down into the second notch till the idle smoothes then you drop it all the way down and ride like a chick for a few minutes and then shes ready to shread!

Thanks. I am putting it back on tomorrow, and will see how she works.
