I have a leak that seems to be coming from where the shifter is. Is this common? How do you fix it and are the parts available?

You didnt mention what is leaking, but I assume its oil. There is a little rubber seal around the shifter shaft. You pop it out with an ice pick or small screwdriver, and push a new one in. They cost around $2-$3 so buy an extra an keep it in your tool box.
