i just got a set of forks for my 200x, that are in pretty good condition. the only problem is they have some surface rust on the actual chrome fork..is there any way to get that off without destroying the chrome finish?

Just use very fine steel wool.. it will take it right off. I believe #0000 is the finest you can buy.. but I'm having a memory lapse at the moment.. maybe its #000.. but anyway. Go to Ace or Lowes or your nearest hardware store, and pick up the finest steel wool they have.

Simple Green, I have used this on some metals with the rust spraying right off (one minute soak, depending on dilution). Make sure you wipe the remaining Simple Green off, then hit your forks with WD40 or something similar to prevent the rust.

I do both of the mentioned. I take a SOS pad (steel wool) and spray the forks with simple green and start polishing. When finished, like performula mentioned, hit it with some WD-40
