Trying to get this 86 250R running and can't seem to get the right CDI. We need the round plug one and keep getting the square plug one. Well Time is up and this bike has to run tommorrow.

SOoo... I need to know how to splice this CDI in to make it work. The plan is to run some temporary jumpers from the CDI to the Harness, to get this damn thing running.

Anyone able to help with this wiring challenge? Any idea where to find some wiring schematics?

Thanks.

So it looks like what I need is a picture of the connector on the TRX harness, where it plugs into the CDI, so I know which wire goes where.

those CDI pins are very small and fragile, be very careful to not break one off or the CDI has to come apart and thats even less fun.

What years are the bike and replacement CDI? I have the wiring dia. for 86-89.
If you get in a real bind, bring it up (St Marys is 2 hours from Cols) and I can solder it up for you.

Or you can just solder it up yourself. Never too early to learn and soldering irons are cheap. Gas sure isn't though.......Use google and look up a soldering tutorial. Not hard at all.

A good way to learn is installing mod chips in game systems for your buddies....that and those light kits for the older Gameboy advances. Those things are real fun to install. I did 5 gameboys in one night. No fun when everyones stairing over your shoulder wondering when it'll be done. Requires dremeling too, my one friend april she was squealing like a stuck pig as her gameboy spilled its guts on my workbench. it was funny. Then I snapped a picture and photochoped it into a desktop wallpaper...I switched my display to the TV and she squealed again when she saw it all blown up on the toob.

Well, I guess this is now a back up plan, as the right CDI and Harness has been located.

Thanks for the info.
