I've been looking into finding school motors as most people call them. I tried this a year or so ago, one guy said he had a few 110 motors... never run. but the deal was that they could never get rid of them, that was part of the agreement they made with honda back in the day. Honda would give them the motors if they were to never let them leave their sight.

I just emailed another college a day ago. Here is a reply

"Yes, We have several bikes that would be great collector bikes, that were
donated from Honda in the '80's. Honda has told us they must be passed on to
other schools, or photos taken of them being destroyed. If a serial number that
we were given shows up in the consumers hand, we will be off the list for any
possible donations in the future."

This makes me wonder how all these 350x and some 250r motors show up. People stealing, schools getting tore down?

I encourage everyone to check with their local honda dealer and local high schools and tech colleges to see if they have anything. chances might be if a teacher started teaching after '90 or so they might not know about the deal and sell them. I talked to one guy from Salt Lake City Utah and he bought 1 complete new 350x motor from a high school like 10 years ago, he said that the school he got it from got 25 350x motors from honda. Most of the motors went into go carts and such. Let me know what you find out. Some colleges have web sites with email directorys of their teachers and what classes they teach, that is how I got ahold of the guy that wrote me the above message.

When I was in high school we got a brand new chevy s-10 4x4 donated from GM, but the deal was you couldnt get it registered. My auto teacher turned 5 of us, (the whole advanced auto class) on to the task of making a go anywhere cuttaway car. Few sawzaws and some steel tubing later we had a badass truck that the school still uses today for compitition. We mini-spooled/welded the rear end, put some old 36" buckshot mudders on it and romped the living piss outta it. Most fun class i ever had!!

From the sounds of that guys reply it seems like the list for future donations was just a Honda thing. Honda is probably just trying to cover their butt so they don't have to go through what they went through in the 80s. I just need to find a school that has these motors (expecially 350x) and find a teacher that will sell. Or maybe I'll start my own tutoring program on how to tear down a 350x motor, then that school can donate those motors to my teaching facility.
