I ran into a smoking deal on some ITP holeshots only catch is they are 22x11x9. I'm curently running 20's in the rear, I realize it would give me more top end which is good but will it kill me off the line. I'm running a stock 42inch rear sprocket and a 15 in the front. Will I need to drop back to a 13 in front to give me the tourqe I need of the line or woul I be ok the way it is? Thanks in advance guys!

Drop your front sprocket down a tooth or two and you get your bottom end back and be in good shape.

Thatll work, except Id wonder about handling, I personally like low profile tires because it makes the thing more stable in a slide. But that depends on what you ride in.

Good tires.

Theres far more grunt hiding in that engine than those tires will take! Im running 18 x 9.5 x 8 on a 14 / 36 sprocket combo and gears 1-3 just spin the tires, it doesnt hook up till partway up in 3rd gear.

If you have a 15/42 setup (39 rear is stock), 1 tooth down in the front will get you close and 2 teeth will give you more torque then you had. To get exactly the gearing you had before you'd need a 13/40 setup.

leave the 22's man, its not gonna kill * on take off chances are you are probbly spinning on take off ne ways when racing, you will really get more traction and be just as fast or mabye faster on take off and top end,
conig, what is the lightest tire you can buy?

You should be fine with the 22s. I ran 22" bear claws for a weekend on my 84 and had no prob spinning them off the line. wasnt able to slide no where near like with the 20" badlands.

Try using a PM or start your own thread. Email works nice too.

my 84 had the 15 tooth on the front , but i switched back to the 13, what a difference. in my opinion , the extra teeth were alot of strain on my stock clutch, with the stock gearing the bike has alot more torque. just my .02
