Have a 200x. I'm going to get a tachometer off of ebay, possibly digital, what should I look for in terms of price, brand (don't know if this matters), and features? Assume I know nothing, hahah. Also when I do get one, how do I hook it up to my 200x to read the rpm's?

My 350X tach wires into the main harness and into the ignition coil... it's an electonic analog tachometer... Hondaline of course! hahahaha

Hmmm... yes... mines a one of a kind deal.... the speedo's are hard enough to find, but the Hondaline Tachometer's are even harder. Unfortunately, the mounting brackets that come with them, mount in the same spot (right fork)... so I picked up a motorcycle dash a couple years back and finally this year got around to fabbing up a bracket inside the dash to mount the Hondaline ATC speedo and Hondaline 350X tach together. (Much help and guidence from Jeswinehart on that!!!!) Unfortunately, most Honda tachs form motorcycles are mechanically driven....

Yep Bruce is right most honda tach's are cable drive BUT not all of them......i working on 2 different honda tach's at the moment....one works great on all my bikes 350,250r,200x,110,125,pilot,etc the other one still needs some work before it's ready....i will be posting photo's soon..... :D

Since a regular tach that mounts is going to be hard enough and expensive enough to find, how about the kind you hook up temporarily just to set the idle speed before I check the ignition timing? I heard that you use some kind of magnetic tape and connect it somewhere to get it to read the rpm's but I'm not sure. Any help would be great.
