Hi, I was going to detail my Yamaha today, but it started storming bad right after I put the new front tire on. so we'll make this a "Before and After" thread. I bought this from the original owner about a month ago, it is completely untouched, original except for the tires and Battery. I paid $750.00 for it, I found it at a local yard sale! the man said he had bought it brand new and had paid something like $1600.00 for it from the dealer, well fast forward almost 20 years, he said it had been sitting in his garage for the last 3-5 years, and he decided he was going to sell it in the yard sale. Before he put it in the sale, he took it to our local Yamaha dealership and had them put on 2-new back tires, new front and rear brake pads, new battery, clean and re-jet the carb, clean out the fuel tank and lines, and change all fluids and filters! He's the kind of guy that won't sell something he feels might not run right of be safe. this things runs like new! Does not Smoke or use any oil, everything works perfectly! it has never been mudded the seller was an older gentleman who rode his kids around his property on it and used it around the yard and for deer hunting a few times. the only thing wrong with this three-wheeler is the decals are starting to peel back a little on the tank sides (probably from excessive heat when it was stored and not being ridden all those years) and some heel scuffs on the rear fenders which should come clean. I will post more pics after I get it all washed and waxed. the first pic is the one I snapped of it with my digital camera right after I paid for it at the yard sale. the rest are kinda poor quality because I took them right as the storm started so I snapped them and ran into the house so I would'nt ruin my camera.

Great trike, you'll love it. Great shape, too! Definitely worth the price.....I'd say that was a good deal. Just don't paint the wheels black, you'll upset Edog! (Edog- Does Honda make their red in a rattlecan???? :p ) :welcome: to the board!!!!

I probalby won't modifiy it other than I would like to get an aftermarket pipe for it (if that's even possible anymore) and I want to put the factory front rack on it. I would really like to get some factory nos decals for it and it would be perfect. the weather sucks here today so I can'y really do any cleaning on it. maybe tommorow and I will post more pics after it is done.

Go with the Cobra exguast system. You can get it at www.denniskirk.com. Factory nos decal's are no longer avaliable from Yamaha. There are ones out there you just have to know where to look.

Man. She's a real nice example. I have an 86 too in Black and red. They're great trikes.

I was wondering if you'd mind taking a nice close up of the rear disc set up on your trike. Mine has been worked on by a shadetree mechanic at some point and has all sorts of brackets and junk making it work/holding it together. It'd be appreciated to see how it was set up from the factory on a mint example.

Good score on the price BTW.

Hello everyone! thanks for all the kind words about my bike. I just finished cleaning the frame and everything, and here are the finished pics. it took me forever to get all the film and greasy residue off of the frame and undercarriage. but I think it looks very good now. I will post those pics of the rear disc setup later on so you can hopefully work your brake problems out. I would really like to find another set of plastic to cover with camo vinyl graqphics for when I take it trailriding that way i could save the nice factory plastic. I have a front carrier rack on the way and I hope to get installed and then I will be happy. total investment so far with this bike is as follow: purchase price$750.00 4-nos mudflap screws(to replace missing ones) $4.50 front rack from a member on these forums $35.00 new front tire from wal-mart $32.00 1-swingarm bolt plastic cover $2.00 and 1-rubber gas tank hold-down strap (old one was broke) $5.50 nos painted the headpipe and muffler with high-temp paint $5.00 for the paint. I am very happy with this bike. it runs and rides like new! I am 33 years old so three-wheelers are what I came up on, I have had alot of different three wheelers over the years and other than the 350X I had back in '93 this is my favorite. I have had the following three-and four wheelers: 1982 Honda 110 that my parents bought for me brand new in '82. 1984 Honda 200, 1985 yamaha tri-z-250, 1985 Honda atc 350X (my all time favorite 3-wheeler) 1985 honda 250 big red, 1995 Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4 and some misc. dirtbikes, crotch-rockets, and cruiser bikes etc. thrown in over the years

That is for sure one of the nicest 225's out there that ive seen. It looks to hardly ever been ridden. How come I never find sweet deals like that. I bet you could double your money on that. I wouldnt though. That is one of the better Trikes to ever grace the face of this earth and yours looks like its been hiding from the dirt. Great collector piece. :w00t:

Thanks for all the compliments! I would like to get a set of polished aluminum rims maybe 9-inchers and run some better tires than the chevrons in the back and the knobby in the front. anybody have any suggestions? are three lug rims available for this in a polished finish? I am going to order the cobra pipe for it from Dennis Kirk next week and then leave it alone and just ride and enjoy! I don't know about anybody else but, when I ride a three wheeler it really takes me back to my youth when I had no troubles or worries and just would go riding to be riding. that was all I wanted to do. maybe some of you guys are around my age (33) and remember a time when there were no 4-wheelers only three-wheelers and dirtbikes! the 80's Were an Awsome time to grow up in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guy, yeah that's good that you are getting the cobra exhaust system..it's a great economical upgrade from stock and gives better performance too. I just recently purchase a pair of spidertracs for my big red for the rear and am putting a mudlite on the front. Edog claims that mudlites are great all around on is tri-moto, you may want to consider them...I was just a kid in the 80's but I had an older cousin who lived on 12 acres of land and we rode 3 wheelers then 4 wheelers when they started becoming popular. Those were the days...gas was less than a $1 a gallon too!

Yes they were,my fist three wheeler i rode was a Honda 1983 200e.Douglas rims were sold back in the 80's.They can be found on ebay. They are made of aluminum. There bolt pattern is 3/100.You can change the rear hubs from a Tri Z they are a 4/100 bolt pattern.Them there are all kind of differant rims you can use.

I thought abought some cutom work on the front rim and tire.Just havent got around to it yet.Does your Tri Moto have a K+N filter?

Hi, me and a buddy are going out to do a little bar-hopping so I will be offline until about 2:00am my time. no edog I don't have a K+N filter yet, I have that on the list of things to get. will I have to rejet my carb if I get the K+N and the cobra pipe? I would really like to see pics of other 80's 225's and also Tommorow I will dig out some of my old riding pics and scan em' and start a new thread for vintage 1970's and 80's riding pics. also, I think it would be fun to post an old pic and then a new pic of yourselves sort of a then and now. I have some really funny pics of me with a mullet riding my ATC 350X in the early 90's and I also have some of my brother and I riding 90's and 110's in the early 80's. I'll have to look thru all my old pics. I think this would be a really fun thread!
