Hey guys, I am rebuilding the carb on my 350X. Never done it before but I don't think it can be that difficult. My question is....what can I buy "off the shelf" to clean this thing up before I put it back together? I don't have access to a shop with one of those vats, so I have to clean it up myself. Thanks

Diesel/kerosene and a wire brush. Carb cleaner(off the shelf at the local auto parts store) and a wire brush, or just regular gas and a wire brush. They all work pretty good.

Pick up a carb soaker kit. It's a tin with a basket and solution all in one. Works great! Cheap and reusable.

How about a can of "Carburetor Cleaner"? Available at any auto parts store. If you have a cruddy buildup use some WD-40 and a wire brush then spray it with "Carburetor Cleaner". It works for me. :-D

Has anyone here used Muratic acid?

muratic acid works great for cleaning up bores and stuff but for a carb just get some jb80 carb and choke cleaner

Thanks for the help guys. I got a kit from NAPA that includes a little dip basket and it worked great for about $20. Has a nice top that seals it so I can store in my garage for next time.
