MY friend know some one with a 81 250r. IT is in very used condition, it needs an axle and some other minor stuff and tlc. i was wondering if 500$ is to much to purchase this quad and it had engine work done to it last year, piston and rings and top end IF i purchase this will it be hard to find parts for it.
Dammit!

I think durablue still makes axles for them. Price out the stuff you need and add that to the purchase price and decide if it's worth it to you.

Parts are available on ebay regularly. Aircooled R's don't seem to be worth much, so I'd say if it needs lots of work $500 is about the max.

I was going to say I have axles for them, but remembered the 82axle is different thatn the 81 because of the change in brakes. However, the 81-82R parts on ebay are much cheaper than trying to restore a 350X or say water pumper. Would be a good project, but if it doesn't run, I'd say that $500 is way too much money. Rule of thumb - Don't run - $300 max!

$500 for a very used 81 250R is too much $$$, and it's also not a quad. ;)
