I bought this silencer a while back thinking I can get an end cap. I have hit a brick wall now. My Favorite Yamaha dealership had a NOS core for it, but no end cap. I can make the repairs that the silencer needs before it gets polished up. But I really need help finding an end cap. Any ideas?

Will a dg fit? It looks almost the same.

I can not be sure with out removing one of my DG end caps. I prefer not to unless it comes down to it. I am also wondering if the Answer end cap is shaped differently. I saw one that sticks out and is angled more.

I ran into this on my R. Same thing no endcap, and you cant really buy the parts can you. Anyway what I did was took a trx answer silencer guts. They were slightly longer, so I had a friend cut them down to the size I needed and reweld it back together. Then put it in My R silencer. I have an empty TRX silencer now, that is no use to me if anyone wants it lol.... I think I got that trx silencer on ebay for aprox 15 shipped.

Do you have any photographs of how that turned out?

Hmmm the answer I had for a Z looked consierably different then that one. I said had because its being adapted to 500R for center frame mount usage. Will be slick when its done :naughty:
I agree with twgranger, it looks like a DG end cap would work. The mounting holes for it are the same. I've had a couple DG's apart and I'd almost bet money one would work without any drilling.

Damnit, just my luck.
Thanks Jenn. I like your idea, but I would really like to see how you did it.

Lonesome I will try to describe it the best I can. I will look through some old picts but dont hold your breathe.
The biggest thing we need to look at is the location of where the silencer core slides into. I still have the Trx silencer so I can measure total length. If I remember correctly it was in the middle. What you will need to do is look inside your silencer and see where your core would slide into (there is a hole there for it) and measure total length adding about an 1/2 to an inch for it to slide into position. The trx core was longer then the r, that is why mine worked, because I just cut it down to the size I needed. We need to see if that is true with your z. Now as much as I like to gut my silencer, I am not due for repacking yet, and frankly that is a pain and packing cost money. So you would really have to swindle me to pull mine apart. But I honestly dont think that is neccessary. I will measure the length of the core on my trx silencer and see if it is a fit or doable. If your tri- z silencer requires a longer core, you may need to look into either expanding it, or finding a different solution. You need that core for good repacking. I hope this made sense!

You are the man. That sounds like a great plan. I will get a PM out to you in a few minutes.
Jenn, that it some great information. Let me get some measurments and go from there. I see no reason for you to pull yours apart. i think I have a good idea of what you did.

I looked inside the trx silencer. It the hole is on the upper side of it, not middle. That will be your first conquer. The distance to the physical inner slide area was 6 inches the tape measure went up to 11 inches sliding in but would often grab about 10 inches. So I am gonna guess that it the core is aprox 10 inches from the opening of the silencer to where it needs to slide into. That is a aproximate guess. So when you measure your Tri-z silencer. You will need the same aproximates or less...
