whats up guys. I let my big red sit for about 3-4 weeks with the fuel on and now it appears something clogged up in my carb. I can roll onto the throttle and its fine but if I just gun it I get hesitation in the motor or the machine just flat out stalls. If I put the choke on half I get none of this. my pilot main my needle are all clean and my float seems to be fine any idea whats cuaseing this? Could it be the valve adjustment It ran fine prior to being parked.
Also for those that have run the 350x carb what if any jetting mods did you do? Does the 350x have an accelerator pump on it? I saw a 300ex carb on ebay that the guy said was the same as the 350x carb but it has an accelerator pump and I don;t know if that will cause any problems.

The engine is cold :D run it till it is warm then start gunning it. It wont have this problem.

you sure its just a cold engine? It didn't do it at all before. But alright I'll try your suggestion and see what happens.

I'm almost possitive. If it runs, with the choke half on and sputters when you hit the throttle and the choke isnt on, almost has to be cold engine or jetting.

Is it still sputtering? As for the avatar I thought it should match my name

seems alittle bit better but it still has the cough it was in my yard though, I don;t get to use it that much, I plan to take it out for alittle while this weekend.
Hopefully I will know then, I have a ticking noise from the head, whihc is what makes me think the valves need to be adjusted. Anyone have any ideas what a feeler gauge costs or what labor would be to fix this. Im kind of leary of adjusting this myself.

the feeler is cheap.. 10 $ or so for a fair one. ( depends on your taste for tools !! )
I have not done it on my SX but it's a tight squeeze.. if in doubt.. get help for the first time... don't want to mess that up !!

Valves adjustment won't fix the cough you describe. Anytime I have adjusted my valves they were only a few thousandths off of spec. I don't mean to discourage adjusting your valves but look elsewhere for the hiccup. Ticking can be a loose timing chain and or tensioner.. Your problem sounds like a carb issue...
