200x fork rebuild

I am going to be rebuilding/resealing the forks on my 86 200x and have a few questions. First, how much oil should be in them and what is the proper way to fill them? Also, what is a good starting point for the air pressure? thanks in advance.

Standard air pressure is 0 psi....the more air in the stiffer they are....I do not remember how much oil (sorry). Very important when you get started..After draining oil you need to remove that bottom bolt.....Mine were set in there with locktight....therefore spinned once broke loose, but would not come out. Air compressor very strong one, impacting work best. I actually was able to mooch a shop to impact them out.....No I did put the bolts back in with locktight. When you get to this point, If you have trouble getting the seals out themslves I know a cheap trick to get them out. Good luck Jen

you lame arse turd i told you i would help ya out. if your gonna cry about it all day i am going to go postal!!! good question about the oil though. my Z had just under 12 oz. and dont bother adding air i dont have any in the Z.want me to come over and hold your hand to fix them?? maybe you should stick to breaking boats i mean fix them whoops!!! hehe later

200xman, are you the same 200xman that used to come to the old board with the 86 200x with the messed up transmission/clutch?

If you are looking to stiffen up the fork action, air is NOT the answer! Use a higher viscosity oil in the tubes.

Johnathan, I am a completely different 200xman. As for everybody else, thanks for the replies. I resealed them last night and everything went smoothly(thanks Mike). Now all I need to know is how much oil to put in them. Anyone know :?: :?: :?: :?:

For 86 200x use 7.3-7.5 oz. SAE 10W. This is according to the Clymer manual

lol lol wouldn't you get more traction in 4 low, 4 high is the same as 2h but the all wheels are driving, 4 low gets you more power and better traction. lol lol
