I'm looking into a 28mm Carb. Can I purchase any 28mm carb, or does it have to be a certain model? If I install one of these, is there anything else that I will need to change? Also I've noticed that they offer a "Flat Side" carb, is that what a 85 200x takes?
Also, I want to know what piston is considered "HIGH COMPRESSION", because after reading up on this trike, the magazine recommends a high comp piston along with the larger 28mm carb.

some company still sells flat slide 28mm for the 200X. They arent real 200x carbs so they have to offer a custom manifold for you. "Samster" and "MudFreak99" know where to get it, theyll reply soon im sure.
High compression would be over 10.5:1 in my opinion, dont know what it is in term. I was running a 12:1 wiesco .020 overbore in my 87 200X. Remmeber with a High comp. psiton, you should run good gas with it (highest pump octane w/ booster is what I recommend).

if you chose to run a 12 to 1 compression piston you need to run race gas (108-110 octane). good pump fuel is about 91 plus the boost will put it about 98 octane which is what honda recomends to run with the stock compression.
the carbs you are talking about im assuming they are mikuni. these carbs dont have a bolt flange in the front, there just round so you will need a custom manifold like atcryder is talking about. the manifold dosent have a flange and i think its a bigger intake hole. the carb connets to the intake by a piece of fuel hose and two hose clamps

I got a mikuni 28mm flatslide for my 200x and it won't fit by the frame tube. I got the manifold that fits it. All from pro-flo. (Brett @ PRO-FLO is pretty cool). As I have learned,, to fit this carb you'll need to heat the frame enough to 'dimple' it to get clearance for the larger slide. I am investigating other carbs hoping to get one that fits with less hassle. However, I believe the 'flatslide' provides more performance. I think that the kehin round slides in size 26mm or 28mm will fit easier but I'm not sure. I will find out and let ya'll know.

i talked to a guy at www.carbparts.com, he recommended a 28 mikuni. if you need an adapter i'm sure they have one. the flat slide will give you slightly better performance. but a round slide might fit w/ no problems

I've decided to leave my 200x alone for the moment and finish my TRI Z 250 :-D
